On this episode of Pawd Slama Jama, hosts Andy Yanez and Da’Yon Dunlap break down 2022 American Athletic Conference media day!
The two focus on Houston Cougars quarterback Clayton Tune, who garnered high praise from head coach Dana Holgorsen. The UH head coach said Tune has focused on working on his body heading into 2022. Also, the two break down what UH players Nathaniel ‘Tank’ Dell and Hasaan Hypolite said about Tune, which is they have seen him be more vocal during offseason workouts and more!
Then, the two hosts talk about the Houston defense. The Cougars put together a strong 2021 season, but Hypolite said the team wants to be better in 2022. Holgorsen said the door is wide open for new stars to rise on defense with the departures of key players, such as Damarion ‘Pepe’ Williams, Marcus Jones and Logan Hall. Holgorsen also talks about the key in his defensive coordinator Doug Belk.
Lastly, the two hosts focus on Houston being picked as the preseason favorites to win the American Athletic Conference. Holgorsen said he picks Cincinnati. Yanez and Dunlap discuss who should be favored, and they also talk about other key players that could play a big role in 2022.
