POLL: Favorite UH Logo

THAT still doesn’t make us the school of Texas ahead of UT/TAMU/TT…what part do you not understand.

Because they carry the state flag…as if that is all it takes?

No…takes more than that to be the TOP brand IN your state

It ain’t an either/or, and it ain’t an ahead or behind thing.

That’s the point that YOU don’t understand. That’s a made up red herring on your part.

UT, aTm, Tech, UH and others are all BIG STATE universities in Texas.

PERIOD.

Full stop.

The fact that a few other state Us in TX may be better funded than UH HARDLY means that UH either isn’t a big STATE U as opposed to a City U (UH AIN’T a city U; hasn’t been since 1945, and since 1963 has been a STATE U), much less that we have little or nothing to do with the State of Texas, as YOU suggested.

That’s just DUMB.

And of course UT, aTm, and UH ALL strive to be recognized as the best team from Texas on a national level.

We usually fly a Texas flag upon entrance to the stadium, not a City of Houston flag, and always run a Texas flag across the field after scoring to show our close Texas ties and to emphasize that to both our fans and the other team.

It’s designed to make everyone understand how we strive to be the best team from Texas for the whole world to see.

Those are the FACTS Bro.

Can anyone name a point in the last 60 years when we didn’t receive more funding from the State than any other source, including the City of Houston?

No.

All right then.

Given that, don’t try to make the case that we are more a City U than a State U.

We are the latter, NOT the former.

Sorry. The University of Houston has a bigger presence inside the Houston metro than
inside the remainder of the State of Texas.

You are just dead wrong on this if you think otherwise and im confident our admission location backs this up.

We are a city school that is known in our region first…we have yet to become a UCLA type destination school

Our following and impact are greater in Houston than elsewhere.

But guess what?

Doesn’t mean that we aren’t a big state U, much less that the State of TX has little or nothing to do with UH, as YOU suggested.

UNT has a bigger presence in DFW than in the rest of the state.

Doesn’t mean that UNT isn’t a big state U with closer funding and ties to the state than any DFW.

It most certainly is. The State has a lot to do with UNT, given that.

Same for UH.

That’s the argument as to why we double down on Houston themed connections…not State themed Connections

Even in those ad campaigns we still use state of TX logos to emphasize our TEXAS connections.

So even your pet example is a bad one.

No…they use For the City and HTown references

I have this on MY car.

Law where can I get one of those!

Less repeating 2-fan debate …

I feel “full-stopped” to the point of calling Dr Kavrkian

Add a poll in a new thread (city vs state thing), let us all vote and accept the result… so the insanity can end.

I.e…If you could only choose one…what do Coogs Fans prefer that UH be perceived to be representing? The City of Houston? OR The State of Texas?

That looks great!

And for what it’s worth…this website’s owners seem to align with the State of Texas connection in their own logo.

Team and staff were literally wearing UH with Texas outlines last night.

It looked sharp. In my opinion.

Do you know what the State of Texas legislature has done for U of H?

Donald Sutherland Nothing GIF by Ovation TV
Nothing or hardly anything.
What the State of Texas legislature has done is keep all Texas public universities away from the PUF.
U of H is the way it is today because of its own commitment.
Sure they are concerned about our board of regents. You know what we want?
Get the PUF open to all Texas public universities. Anything else is a utamafia that does what a utamafia does. Any questions?

Yes.

They just gave us $1 billion in new endowment.

They also gave us $20 million for a new med school, upwards of $90 million for a new law school building, and have also approved numerous other projects.

No they did not. Pressure that went on for years did this. We all know who was campaigning against this new endowment. By keeping us away from the PUF we all know how the Texas legislature work.
Texas legislature and utamafia with what you wrote gave us peanuts, not even peanuts actually more like:

Seems like Law has Stockholm Syndrome

Stockholm syndrome

noun

Psychiatry.

  1. an emotional attachment to a captor formed by a hostage as a result of continuous stress, dependence, and a need to cooperate for survival.

The state of Texas has treated the University of Houston like utter garbage for 95 years, including leaving us out of the new Big 12 by kicking us into the gutter to choke on our own vomit, and they only now are starting to treat us like a “state school” here the last few years.

What does Law do- he gets a Texas themed car decal…lol

No one disputes that we got treated badly by the legislature, and, even worse by our Gov and LT Gov (see Bob Bullock and how he got his private CHURCH SCHOOL alma mater in to the Big 12 over us).

But times have truly changed in recent years.

Now, the legislature is giving us big bucks, and our Gov and LT Gov got us in the Big 12.

Treated badly?
I often wonder why middle schoolers, high schoolers have no clue about history or geography.
Giving us money?
Are you doing this on purpose or you have no clues about our history?
We know you went to Illinois so we can give you a pass.

I spent way more time at UH.

My Illinois degree hasn’t made me any money.

My UH degree, by contrast, I’ve made some good money from.

Yes indeed. In the last few years, the political powers that be have been good to UH, unlike in the past.
