POLL: Favorite UH Logo

No we don’t.

One game per year we wear colors inspired by the Houston flag.

But most of the time we wear red and white, which aren’t on the flag, and in any event we NEVER fly the City of Houston flag at the game.

Only the STATE of TEXAS flag.

And if CKS backstabs UH, maybe I’ll be off the bandwagon. Until that day i trust there’s a reason why he wants TX with the logo.

But since you bring up Herman, why do you keep mentioning HTown Takeover as being the type of school we are?

wrong…we carry the Houston flag regularly…way before the Oilers jerseys game

How so?

There’s an Ohio University as well as an Ohio State University and BOTH are STATE universities in that state.

What’s your point?

They (Ohio State) are the biggest football brand in that state by far, right?

Basketball…I dunno!

Cincy is a damn big basketball brand basketball in that state.

But a case could be made that Ohio State’s basketball brand is every bit as big or bigger, given their ELEVEN final fours, five title game appearances, and a natty.

Certainly Cincy and Ohio State, given their extensive final four and title game histories, are both bigger and more recognizable basketball brands than Xavier, right @T-Moar ?

No we don’t.

Never seen the City of Houston flag run across the field at a UH game.

EVER.

Been seeing the STATE of TEXAS flag run across the field at every UH game since the 1990s though.

See the difference?

NOBODY (but maybe you) think the University of Cincinnati represents the state of Ohio over their city.

The only City School that can make that claim is Clemson

reading comprehension…

The actual football team runs out with the Houston Flag

The Student organization runs out with a Texas flag after a score

Not him, but it’s on the shortlist of most effective marketing campaigns this school has ever done. Same with the H-Town Blue stuff. The Coogs work best when they’re leaning into their identity as the city’s team, and Houston’s flagship university.

How many times have you seen the City of Houston flag on the field at a UH game compared to a State of Texas flag?

Probably WAAAAAAAAAY less.

That should tell you all you need to know about which polity UH as more to do with.

Academically, is that really the case though?

I mean, we are certainly the top public U in town; that’s almost by default.

But I think Rice would consider themselves to be the overall academic “flagship” school in this city in any fields where they conduct study (obviously we would be the flagship U in town for law, hospitality, entrepreneurship, creative writing, and undergrad business, at least, as Rice lacks offerings in those areas).

As a sports brand…sure…we are the biggest in the city, but that isn’t saying much, given that our competition would be Rice, TSU, HCU, UST, etc.

I see it almost every game when they run out of the tunnel. You know when we cheer that they enter the firld

MAN…you are lost

OUR SLOGAN was H-Town Take Over. We are the University OF Houston (as in the CITY)
H-Town is a nickname for Houston

teh basketball team adopted the For the CITY slogan

Not saying any such thing.

But I would say that they certainly HOPE that at least their BASKETBALL team is recognized as the best that their state has to offer in that sport.

Just as we hope that our basketball team will be recognized as the best team in our state (not merely our city) as well.

I think LAW wants us to wear burnt orange so he can be justified in defending we are a Texas school first and a City school second

“Extensive” is a bit of a stretch when describing the final four history of Cincy or tOSU. I’m just saying when I think Basketball schools from Ohio, I think about the one that plays in what I consider to be primarily a Basketball league. That’s just me, though. I don’t speak for anyone else on this.

Yet how many times per game do you see that flag during the game as opposed to the State of Texas flag?

Hint: A LOT less.

Man…you are lost if you say otherwise.

And our fans cheer just as loudly if not more loudly when that flag is run out on the field, because it follows a score.

Dumb statement on your part.

NO S*&* but that 's not anywhere close to the argument which is surprising because you’ve mentioned a thousand times we are NOT the state’s #1 or #2 STATE flagship

name one UH slogan with the word STATE or TEXAS in it…I’ll wait forever because we never have

because YOU are lost if you think we brand ourselves as a Texas School first

We’re the city’s flagship because we’re the ones wearing the city’s name on our chest, and educating 50k Houstonians. Tulane isn’t Louisiana’s flagship for the same reasons.

glad you added that little disclaimer.

Because Xavier has nowhere near the basketball history of either Ohio State (11 FINAL FOURS, which among the best all-time, five finals appearances, and a natty), or Cincy (6 Final Fours and two natties).

I would definitely NEVER recognize Xavier as a top two basketball program all-time in that state given that disparity (Xavier has ZERO final fours).

Xavier is a good basketball program…BUT NOWHERE NEAR AS SUCCESSFUL historically as those two.

If Ohio State’s ELEVEN final fours, which I think is like SIXTH best all time, isn’t an “extensive,” Final Four history, then how “extensive” does one’s final four history have to be to qualify in your world?
