Pompeii Exhibit at HMNS

Very moving. I was more affected by it than I thought I would be.

Two things of note:

  1. Not the most expansive collection in a visiting exhibit that I have seen but the structure and flow are memorable, surprising, and at times disturbing.

  2. The surviving artifacts and video presentations demonstrate how beautiful the Roman towns and cities were at that time. Amazing how intricate and masterful their handymen and tradesmen were.

Example: a “beware of dog” tile door sign hand-painted and unearthed still in its frame.
