Woodmark with that good pr. That’s why i shy away from being straight blunt. Even though they’re facts.

JD’s track record is not as good as people on here …
I don’t think he has that great of “inside” contacts. I don’t see him being well respected either.
He isn’t on the top 30 list above?
We fishing in the creek lol
Elvin, good?
I’m sure Houston fans are not the only fan base that thinks they’re poor. You should read Kentucky fans. And they’re a blue blood school.
Arizona lost out on a blue chip transfer vs Louisville. They think they’re poor too lol
I’m sure he doesn’t have any inside contacts or good info given the amount of time he spends out at UH.
There’s parameters around what info he can provide as a beat writer. Regardless, he didn’t pull that out of his ass
Ya know, conventional thinking was always that you sign the best HS talent, and develop/grow it.
But Michigan established a new paradigm this season by winning a natty with five transfer starters.
Looks like the portal pays dividends!
He might get promoted to assistant coach in the next few years.
That wasn’t the question though, was it?
@banderacoogfan is my guy… but he suffers from Coog trauma from the SWC-> B12 years… ![]()
I don’t think developmental HS has been a plan for the top 20 teams in years. 1-10 gets HS talent that’s gonna leave early. 10-15 is going to draw transfers from 25-40.
15-20 is going to be a mix of incoming and outgoing. I don’t think you could rely on keeping a kid 4 years in the last 6-7 years
Didn’t Michigan establish that with the fab 5 decades ago… ![]()
starters/backups/freshman/transfer/returner/6, 7, 8, 9/injured/not injuired. It is all confusing. For me it is easier to refer to them as a minutes guy for next year or a developmental guy for next year. If they have proven or you believe they can earn meaningful time on the court in 2026 then they are a minutes guy. If not, they are a developmental guy. The more minutes guys you have the more buffer you have for injuries or optimizing your on court minutes played and giving out some PT early in the year and trying different lines, and seeing development within our system. However minutes guys are more expensive than developmental guys coming from outside the system so with so many adds this year I’d imagine we are looking at multiple of each with our NIL budget.
We know that Sampson plays 8 minutes guys late in the season so you’d like to have at least 10 minutes quality guys on the team going into the season to process through what I noted above. As it stands now we have Jo Jo, McCarty, and Miller as guarantees from what I’m seeing. That’s 3. Could 1 or both of the signees or KJ step up as a minutes guy next year? Maybe but IDK. They haven’t proved themselves on court yet but that is why our coaches make the big $ I guess.
@QCIllini you can join the conversation here if there’s not enough posts on the Illini board… ![]()
Its a who you know type of thing huh lol
I know MANY Coogs… ![]()
Just no coaches… lol
Both statements can be true here. I don’t know what your definition of a well funded NIL budget is, but the context of the “smaller pond” comment by Sampson is exactly as @Pollardsvision described. There are “big name” players Coach doesn’t even consider.
You’re right that Duke, KU, & Kentucky have a larger budget than us w/ roster funding. But is Top 10 this past season considered well funded? It is in my definition. And I’ve got it on good authority that’s where we were at this past season, and we’re going higher this go round.
