Portal risk reward for players

Out of the approximately 3300 FBS players who entered the portal, about 40% did not end up with a team.
Seems like agents are giving a lot of bad advice out there.

Yeah I see several guys still tweeting that they’re available.

Asking an agent if you should enter the transfer portal is like asking a real estate agent if you should sell your house or asking a plastic surgeon if you need work.

I am curious how it will play out with the elimination of the spring window.

I don’t think that is what’s going on. I’ve read that guys are being pushed into the portal by the coaching staffs. These players are essentially getting cut/fired/laid-off (whatever term you want to use) because the coaching staff thinks the player won’t pan out. The portal has just made it easier for coaches to get rid of those players. Those players will need to drop down a level (or two) to get picked up and then try and work their way back to a higher level.

I’m not saying I like it, but i think it is the reality.

I wonder where Burnette ended up.

That dude was a highly-recruited 4* with offers from the likes of Alabama, but last I checked, no team had scooped him up.

247, says he’s with Appalachian State now.

In the real world, if your employer finds out you are actively seeking employment elsewhere, many times you are screwed and find yourself with way more time to look for another job than you bargained for.
If I am a coach and a player doesn’t want to stay I see no point in diverting resources and time to that player. As for as I’m concerned, he’s done, and I want that scholarship back right now. And NO, I don’t want him back.
This NIL and portal stuff has made college sports way more cutthroat than it ever has been before.

Nadame Tucker made a good move. Left UH to Western Michigan. Now getting reps in the Senior Bowl

Seems like there should be some opptys for some smaller schools to scoop up a bunch of players that aren’t good enough for NIL but might turn into something.
