Yah my post didn’t really have anything to do with the Alamo Bowl. If anything I would say our Texas Bowl show out is a strong indicator that we’d have drawn well in San Antonio as well. Would we have drawn better than TCU? Maybe not but I think it would’ve definitely still been respectable. Which before bowl season definitely wouldn’t have been the consensus before bowl season.
you’re right, instead we should be understanding of the Alamo Bowl committee because it is obvious that they are suffering from Hoss Brock Syndrome.
My first sentence was really the focus. Agree with what you posted.
People should just be happy with the great bowl here.
I do think UH attendance would likely have been similar to TCU. Especially since the Texas Bowl was not that high until the last few days of ticket sales which likely would not have happened if the game was not local. Most TCU people went down Tuesday and left Wednesday. A few more UH fans would have likely gone for a slightly longer stay since it was a different bowl, but it was still a weekday after having taken a bunch of time off for the Xmas holidays and much more expensive.
She was all-girl cheer team flyer. Early 2000s. She came to visit me and we were walking my dog in the neighborhood and she recognized my neighbor who was on that same squad!
Very cool.
It doesnt matter…When Tech wins the national championship and Big 12 dominates in the bowls, P2 turns into P3 real quick. There’s nothing they can say.
Don’t know “Hoss Brock Syndrome”.
Never underestimate the intent of ESPN…
I think it’s a good thing for the league that the two highest attended non-playoff bowls, ended in B12 wins against SEC and B10 blue bloods in front of pro B12 crowds. Good look for the league.
Absolutely. Big 12 needs to show out across the board, both on the field and in the stands. Texas Bowl showed it really well.
It’s named after Hoss Brock who was a vice chairman of the 1985 Cotton Bowl. He publicly stated that he was unhappy that UH was the SWC rep in the game because half of us would eat at 7-11 and the other half would rob it.
Know the phrase but did not know who said it.
Well, he was a TCU grad.
Fans of Sec have to be the most neurotic bunch on the planet. I don’t understand how so much of one’s identity is tied up in a freaking athletic conference. Most of them live and breathe the Sec, One need only listen to “Pawl” Finebaum’s show for a minute to understand that there’s something unhealthy about the way these people experience college football. Clearly they’re having difficulty adjusting to a more even playing field and consequently feel the need to create narratives that make their waning influence more palatable.
I am seriously moved to think and pray for them.
That’s a worthy comparison. It highlights the hubris of the SEC but its a legit comparison.
