Could it happen here?

Yes. Need to find out what the true cause is though.

Russian cyber attack?

No, an American tried to plug in their hairdryer and shorted out the entire country.

There’s a 100 year winter freeze happening in Spain?

Those 100 year weather events seem to be occurring more often these days

Pretty sure this is tongue in cheek, but always a good time to spread some knowledge. Many people are thrown off by the “100-year event” terminology.

Technically the “100-year event” is an event with a 1% annual exceedance probability (based on the limited records we have). Another of describing it is an event with a 100-year average recurrence interval.

To your point, NOAA released updated precipitation statistics for Texas back in 2019, known as “Atlas 14”. Turns out that what we thought was a 100-year storm had more of a 25-year probability. Or 4 times as likely.

As climate continues to change, those statistics will also shift… question is, will there be any federal agency working to capture and analyze the data?

France came to the rescue with their advanced nuclear power infrastructure. That is why we ought to have an effective and dominant nuclear power infrastructure.

Interesting choice for a source. From its history that site was financial in nature, mostly bearish in approach but Zero Hedge expanded into non-financial political content, including conspiracy theories and fringe rhetoric, and has advanced radical right, alt right, and pro-Russia positions. Zero Hedge’s non-financial commentary has led to multiple site bans by global social media platforms, although a 2019 Facebook ban and a 2020 Twitter ban were later reversed.
