There’s not as good as information out there as for the offense. Need more recruits.
I’m likely to have something wrong and will correct the post when errors are pointed out.
Edit: From the comments, Replaced Zavian Tibbs with Quindario Lee, made Brandon Mack II the back up Jack and bumped Chance Bryant to third string, made Carmycah Glass the starting WLB and Richmond Ugochukwu the back up, made Christian Brathwaite the back up MLB, and removed Blake Thompson,
I agree! We need a veteran edge, corners, and linemen. I think we’re set at safety, tight end, and running back but we need a starting caliber edge and depth at every other position.
I have asked for information on Q. Lee several times this year after hearing a lengthy interview with DC Austin Armstrong during our bye week early in the year. Lee was injured at the time. AA said that he was really hoping to have Q. Lee available because he was going to be a big contributor to this year’s defensive unit. As it turned out, I never saw Lee the rest of the year. I hope that means he decided to retain a year of eligibility and he is still around and ready to go in the 2026 season.
It is a little early to be projecting. I am sure we will have some top kids visiting us this weekend and we will get several more commits on Monday, Tuesday. It shows how well we are doing that we can already put together a respectable lineup for next year.
Personally, I hope Ugochukwu fills the Corey Platt role. I’m pretty sure this coaching staff is shooting for Arlington this year & you’d like to have as many experienced starters as possible. Now if we bring in another LB or 2 & Ugochukwu beats them out, then great. But you don’t just hand a RS freshman the starting role at LB.
Yes and no. The portal is very different this year than prior years with most of the top players slow to commit. And most of the schools with big NIL budgets have been slow to sign players. So, it’s looking like the bulk of the signings will happen much later than prior years. Maybe not until the players in the championship games get to declare.
UH seems to have signed several players that were at the top of their list and now have stopped until things start shaking out. So, they may wind up signing several players that radically change this depth chart.
However, I think it’s important for me as a fan to know how UH is doing filling holes and what holes they have left to fill. Saying, “They’ve lost this many players to the portal and have signed this many new players” tells me nothing. I think they’ve done an good job of filling most of their holes, but they have several more to fill.
Bet we have a number of kids here this weekend and will release the commits we get early in the week, just like this week. Its ridiculous to think we will stop with 11 transfers. We have had over 20 transfer kids 2 years in a row. Doubt that changes just yet…
