Proposed "Golden At Bat" Rule

meh, maybe somewhat, sure…but I know plenty of ‘true’ fans that feel this way. I know plenty of COACHES and PLAYERS that feel this way!

More offense and now they’re trying to manufacture clutch moments for star players. They’re trying to get the most out of guys like Ohtani and Judge. Which I understand but they need to find another way to do it.

True fans think that the game is boring and too long?

Sure! Maybe not you or I think the games are too long or boring, but others do, of course. That’s life! Just because you’re a fan, it doesn’t mean you necessarily like EVERYTHING about a particular sport. Having opinions or ways to suggest improvements with the things we love is part of what makes us true fans!

Yeah, I disagree. I personally think that it’s more so media who want to get home quicker and fans who don’t watch baseball, or will watch a couple of innings casually but then be disinterested, who typically say “It’s too long or boring”.

okay, I’m beginning to think you’re tcoog in UHCoog’s clothing!

Fair enough…we’ll just agree to disagree on this one.

Give me a 1-0 16 inning, pitcher’s duel where Judge strikes out 7 times….

I disagree with UHCoog as well….but I can vouch for him, he’s a good poster and knows baseball :baseball:

No, I love baseball, went to and followed the cubbies and white sox since the 50s as a kid in Chicago and the Colt 45s and of course the Astros from their inception.

Not much of a fan of circus ball, which I think the Golden at Bat is.

No hard feelings towards him at all. Don’t disagree he knows baseball. We just don’t agree on this issue.

But maybe putting him and tcoog in the same sentence was a little premature and harsh. I’ll take that one back!

Only thing I can think of is that maybe others are getting in his ear about it…like I said, the support for it apparently has legs.

It will never be a part of the game.

Totally not…but ANY support of is concerning, nonetheless.

If not this, it may very well be something else…they could even decide to go with robo umps or put ghost runners at 2B in extra-inning games during the regular season…oh, wait

Maybe he’s spending too much time talking to his Vegas buddies.

I don’t have time to link but he just made a statement that “it wasn’t happening anytime soon”.

Dumba$$ got some serious pushback and had to assure everyone it was a stupid gimmick that he ran up the flagpole.

These piss-pot rule changes are asinine. In a lifetime of watching mlb baseball there has never been a more insulting or self-flagellating rule change like the current “throw-over” rule. I hope Manfred ends up in a Salvadoran gang prison
