QB Room - Austin Carlisle

Weigman is a good kid, and I think it’s in his interest to have a stellar performance in this bowl game.

I am also of the opinion that Weigman will not be here next year, whether due to transfering or making a run for the NFL.

I do think CW going the NFL route is the bigger worry. At the beginning of the season I thought that’s what might happen, but I’m not sure he put up good enough numbers to ensure he gets drafted. He would have to kill it at the combine. But there’s a good chance he would improve his draft by staying here another year that coming back is worth it. CW has a tough decision to make.

But back on topic, Austin will have to wait and see what our QB room looks like after the bowl game and then make a decision on what he wants to do.

I don’t buy that rumor but even if it were true…transferring your senior year to learn yet another playbook doesn’t seem like a great idea.

Carson Beck, Dillon Gabriel, Riley Leonard, Jalen Hurts. Sure didn’t work out for those guys.

Why would CW transfer to another program now? This is just me but to position himself to the NFL he has everything to gain playing his senior year as a Coog.
Apart from a few games where he clearly did not perform (injury?) he had an outstanding season. Another off season with his QB Coach, OC and an improved roster can only translate into an even better season. Mastering your craft is what the NFL scouts want to see.

Why would anyone transfer? Being on the bench for Willie is much better than playing anywhere else.

No they aren’t. It isn’t open yet.

Wrong

The thread is about Austin Carlisle.

But that doesn’t matter.

It’s another opportunity for a couple of posters to beat the “I think CW is leaving drum”.

Everyone knows, by now, those couple of posters just want to see the shiny new toy in action, and the rumors of Connor leaving (which are 100% from this MB), are just an avenue to advance that agenda.

So, for the sake of Connor, and the team…

Give it a rest. It’s been discussed, ad museum, in every thread on this MB.

Wrong.

But…
Players at Arkansas, Oklahoma State, UCLA and Virginia Tech will be grandfathered in under the previous rule and are currently permitted to enter the transfer portal after head coaches at those programs were fired in September.

What makes you so sure that Weigman will be the starting QB at UH in 2026.

You say he didn’t put enough numbers to get interest from the NFL, yet he’s somehow the guaranteed starter if he stays?

Love the kid, but I don’t buy it.

It’s in Weigman’s best interest to transfer if he intends to get another shot at boosting his draft stock, at a school that will guarantee him QB1 even if it means a G5 or lower tier P4.

You know which team this year had a true freshman QB? BYU.

Austin Carlisle is likely going to be switched to receiver, especially if he hopes to go to the NFL.

Austin Carslile is not only one of the fastest (if not the fastest on the team), he’s one of the fastest players in the country.

Given how the QB room is being built, its in Carlisle best interest to switch to WR/Returner, and it’s likely why Warren ended up transferring to A&M (along with NIL)

That’s when they can sign, they can declare whenever they want.as I showed with my link

The article disagrees with your assessment of the rule change.

College football players, including graduate transfers, now must wait until Jan. 2 to officially enter their names in the NCAA transfer portal and initiate contact with other schools.

Look at my link

Yeah, I did. It’s an unofficial tracker and not the actual NCAA portal. I don’t know what their methodology is for listing a player as “entered”, but it may just be reflecting their stated intent to transfer.

Here’s another one for you to look at.

Correct

I’m guessing it’s not someone that post on the board….if @Hill says he is hearing it then I believe it.

Don’t think he would post otherwise.

If you were Austin, would you not want to pursue playing QB, give his success?

If you are talking about @Hill you couldn’t be more wrong.
