White has been on the bench for one of the most successful runs in program history, including a Final Four appearance in 2021 and Elite Eight and Sweet 16 appearances. He has been on the fast track for a head coaching job, turning down offers in recent years, Sampson has often said. White starred as a point guard for two seasons on Sampson’s teams at Oklahoma, helping the Sooners reach the Final Four in 2002.

I wonder if it is more title and pay. Not that it isn’t deserved, I just don’t know how you give him more responsibility.

no, i think it’s a career thing…he’ll be gone next year to a head coaching job elsewhere
Can there be more than one associate head coach? I thought KC Beard was associate head coach.

Probably both. We are very lucky to have such quality assistant coaches for such a long time. It’s a tribute to CKS.
