There was an article that quoted Sampson as saying that a waiver had not been filed with the NCAA. Not sure of the timing though…
Maybe it was this Twitter post from the @pesik poster earlier in this thread. For the record, pesik believes Grimes will get a waiver:

But Berman reported this in July:

In the process does not mean it has been filed. I think they could have the paperwork completed, but waiting to file if the Kansas investigation/ findings become public.
I am so far outside the program I have no idea. Just going by what I see posted and was quickly corected by others when I commented that I thought I saw where Grimes waiver chances were not good.
Honestly nobody knows at this point…just hoping he can play this year.
As the months go by and Kansas doesn’t get hit the more I think Grimes sits.
Long before the feds started dropping felony bombs kids were being granted waivers to come home…and go away.
There’s probably a lot more in waiver requests that legal matters, especially if a kid has his fam and grandparents nearby.
IMO (just a layman) I’d think just wanting to be with family would be a strong case.
The ncaa drags its feet on everything… I’d be more worried if they started handing out violations and Kansas wasn’t one
Everyone knows notice of violations are coming. The fact that they haven’t handed out any ( after that massive fbi case) is more of a sign to me the NCAA is dragging it feet
Also this went completely unnoticed by the national media … because it was essentially just a footnote and espn never headlined it on any article… but in an article (last month) about the recent Dennis smith/nc state ncaa violations he might have committed … espn notes in 1 Line that it has confirmed that Kansas is under investigation (and 5 other schools)
And now they’re here.
Hopes this helps with Grimes waiver!!
Just grant the stinkin’ waiver already!!!
More on the coming charges against Kansas. Hope this helps Grimes’ eligibility.
Please keep politics out of the basketball forum. Thank you.
From the article:
“The evidence, I submit, shows that Kansas’ head coach knew of and asked for a payment to be made to Silvio De Sousa’s handler,” attorney Michael Schachter told the jury. “More than that, Coach Self requested just the kind of help that Mr. Gassnola arranged as a condition for Coach Self to permit Adidas to continue their sponsorship agreement with the University of Kansas.”
“On Sept. 19, 2017, three days before Kansas announced a 14-year, $196 million contract extension with Adidas, Gassnola texted Self and thanked him for helping the sponsorship deal get done.”
"Self responded: “I’m happy with Adidas. Just got to get a couple real guys.”
Gassnola replied: “In my mind, it’s KU, bill self. Everyone else fall into line. Too [expletive] bad. That’s what’s right for Adidas basketball. And I know I am RIGHT. The more you win, have lottery pics and you happy. That’s how it should work in my mind.” Self responded: "That’s how ur works. At UNC and Duke." Gassnola replied at Kentucky as well.
“I promise you I got this,” Gassnola wrote. “I have never let you down. Except Dyondre lol. We will get it right.”
Guys, this can blow open the top names in the games. Amazing, just read the whole article. SMH
It seems like this has been “imminent” for months.
Final four here we come
Well this should definitely help Grimes in his waiver process. Hopefully his claim his granted and the whole thing comes to a close.
EE, jeez man do you have political Tourettes? Like you just can’t help yourself? Everyone’s having a good enough time talking Grimes and the possibly the violations to free up his waiver claim, and BAM! Here’s some political commentary no one here asked for.
I think he is just very insecure
