How many sell outs did we have in 2009? Before 2009? Why is Robertson listed as 32,000 max and yet CUSA in 2006 only had 31,880 which is not a sell out.
1st Sellout at Robertson, at least from what I can see, was the Texas Tech game in 2009. That was the only sellout we had that season.
There were only 3 games prior to the Tech game that broke 30K: the Rice opener in '99, the Bleachergate game in '01, and the '06 CUSA Championship, but none were considered sellouts.
Not sure when Houston switched to counting attendance as tickets sold instead of tickets redeemed.
In 2010, we sold out 5 of our 6 home games, with only the last game against Tulsa not selling out (it did break 30K).
In 2011, we sold out 4 of our 6 home games (The UCLA and East Carolina games broke 30K, but were not sellouts) and the 2011 CUSA Championship, which was the highest attended UH game at Robertson.
In 2012, we sold out the initial Texas State game, but didn’t break 30K the rest of the way.
So total, UH sold out 11 games at Robertson, and had 17 games that broke 30K.
Just for kicks, so far in TDECU:
2014 - 1 sellout, 3 games over 30K
2015 - 2 sellouts, 6 games over 30K
2016 - 2 sellouts, 6 games over 30K
Total - 5 sellouts, 15 games over 30K
Back in 2002 when the Texans were new, they scimmaged the Cowboys at Robertson. The place was jam packed, and the Texans announced a sell out.
27,536 in attendance.
Becuse that’s how many seats Robertson had.
Chet originally planned to renumber the bench seats from 18" to 15" (the “Aggie plan”) to get to ~32K, but Larry Leckonby convinced him to wait until there was demand. We never re-marked the seats, but acted like we did.

So take all those Robertson attendance records with a healthy grain of salt.
The reason TDECU seemed so much bigger than Robertson is because it was! 50% bigger. Not 25% bigger as you might think going from “32K” to 40K.
Don’t forget the difference between the NFL and the NCAA. In the NFL attendance is how many tickets sold came through the turnstyle (tickets scanned basically). In the NCAA, student tickets, coaches families and friends tickets, the bands, guests for halftime shows, radio show giveaways, etc count toward NCAA attendance numbers even if they are unused as long as they are not returned to the ticket office for redistribution.
The stadium was 32k capacity since the upgrade in 1998.
LOL No. 27.5K seats + SRO.
We lied our ass off.
Based on the official ticket count of the Cowboys and Texans?
Yes.
Because that sell out verified my personal count of the seats. Thats right. I counted the dots.
I also talked to Leckonby about the Aggie plan to renumber the seats which he talked Chet out of.
So Rice 1999, OSU 2006, USM 2006 and Rice 2009 were all sell outs but we didn’t announce them as sell outs because we didn’t sell all of the standing room only tickets as well?
So, when we announced crowds in excess of 31K, we were lying our ass off.
Rice in '99 was announced as a sellout. I remember the electronic marquee saying so as we were going in.
We sold out against Ulala for the very first game at Robertson.
17,500

Apparently it was a sellout of almost 28K but reported as 30K+. It makes the crowds of the last three years that much more impressive. And makes the first game vs UTSA that much sadder.
