Question: Palm Center Parking for Metro Rail

Has anyone recently taken the Purple Line up from the Palm Center Transit Center on the southeast side? Is there still public parking available at that transit center and is there a fee to park in addition to purchasing a rail ticket?

I have not taken the Purple line. However, I think with a ticket to the football game it is free parking at Palm Center and no charge to ride the rail.

I’m not a lawyer and this does not constitute legal advice, but…I’ve parked there for every game over the last few seasons since it opened. There is no fee to park, and I’ve never bought a ticket. I loosely understand that the light rail is free for Coog fans on game days.

It’s a quick and easy ride, about 7 minutes from Palm Center to the station right in front of the stadium. No parking hassles, no traffic issues.

My wife and I were carded two years ago and all you have to do is show the Metro employee your tickets.

So I take it you’re parking in the Palm Center (the place with the Texas Children’s Pediatric Center) parking lot??? Is there signage that indicates permitted use?

Palm Center Transit Ctr 5450 Griggs
We go to every game from there. Excellent parking, secure area. I’d highly recommend it to anyone going to a UH game from the East side (I-10:North Shore, Channelview, Baytown, & Hwy 225:Pasadena, Deer Park, LaPorte) and south on I-45 or south off Hwy 288. We’ve never been questioned about tickets or seen anyone questioned wearing UH gear. Come join us , we think it’s the easiest and IMO quickest way to the games. Beats the heck out the garage or using my faculty parking because we miss all the stadium parking.

I’ve used it a couple of times and have had no complaints. Not great area but will be a lot of Coogs in mass so don’t have to worry about safety.
