Ramon Walker

In our past 3 games his minutes played have been 3,7,0.

Any ideas on his diminishing role off our Bench?

Increasing minutes from others? Other people playing or practicing harder? Matchups? All speculation though.

It is Coach’s decision. With high level opponents, I don’t think Ramon offers enough to merit minutes. The only spark he gives is hustle and effort. He certainly relectant to shoot. Maybe he has not been practicing well. I can’t justify him coming in over Chase, Isiah or Mercy.

I do not think playing Ramon would have made any difference with the outcome of Iowa St. or Arizona.

He was definitely in the game yesterday, but it was right at the end when we were emergency fouling.

In his last few appearances, he hasn’t looked comfortable on offense and his defense hasn’t been good enough, so his minutes have dwindled.

Walker makes zero difference to this team. His defense is only fair, and he has no offensive game. He doesn’t inspire the team at all, so what exactly does he contribute?

They should’ve let him go and continue his career elsewhere honestly so he can go out differently considering how highly touted he was - but they liked him enough to keep him around and he got paid to basically play a bit role if anything - that’s the downfall of NIL/revenue share now - you can get paid to chill basically - need to limit how many players on the roster can get both and create a hunger games scenario

You should definitely pose that question to the guy who thinks that Ramon is important to the team. Coach Sampson has a weekly radio show that gives you the opportunity to do that.

I got the impression that Walker chose to stay at UH out of loyalty to the program for supporting him during a tough time in his life.

With 15 scholarships, we always have a spot for a loyal culture warrior. Full stop.

I don’t think Ramon is fully healthy. He probably tweaked something when he was already a bit slow in the first place.

Right now CKS has more important issues with this team other than a guy who rarely contributes anything of note.

Why don’t you ask the question and let him decide if it’s important?

You can’t argue with people who can only measure value by looking at a stat sheet and seeing who scores the most. Waste of time

Which is the case with 2-3 others on our roster and that falls on Sampson. Time will tell if this season changes his outlook for the future.

Ramon must be hurt. Another DNP last night, I didnt notice was he even dressed out?

Could he have quit the team ?

I would put that in the unlikely category. As I’m not privy to anything at anytime, I won’t say no with absolute certainty. But highly unlikely

he’s getting paid cause they like to have him around - simple as that - normally the guys at the end of the bench are the ones who give more than anyone else both on-and-off the court
