Like I did for some of last season, every Monday (hopefully) I’ll list our current rankings in the various polls.
Computer Rankings:
Sagarin- 1
Kenpom- 2
Torvik- 1
ESPN BPI- 1
Massey Ratings- 2
Team Rankings- 1
Haslametrics- 2
(When the NCAA Net Rankings begin, I’ll include those as well)
Human Rankings:
AP- 1
Coaches- 1
Top 25 and 1- 2
The Athletic (Seth Davis- also a voter in the AP Poll)- 6
Power 36 (Andy Katz)- 4
ESPN Power Rankings- 2
This year, at least right now, the two sets of rankings are much closer than last year, when the computer rankings consistently ranked us higher. I guess the only person in the above list I have an issue with is Seth Davis- he and two others I don’t know were the only individuals to rank us this low in the AP poll. However, I usually take everything he says with a grain of salt. As I said in another string, he had us unranked in his rankings last year before the conference tournaments, and that didn’t work out well for him.
Power rankings are also typically a lot different than just rankings. I’ve always considered power rankings to be that ranking right now which tbh is fair, Purdue, AZ, and to a lesser extent Texas all have done more at the moment, but that will change shortly.
Human Rankings:

Almost a unanimous #1 in the above Computer Rankings.
There’s a long way to go, but it’s nice seeing UH and CKS getting this recognition. Really looking forward to the Alabama game on Saturday., and the UVA game the following week.

It will be interesting to see where the Coogs are ranked when the Top 16 pre-tournament rankings come out Saturday on CBS…I think they could be anywhere from 1-3, assuming no surprises over the next few days.
