Anyone know this guy’s status?
I believe he is still going through the concussion protocol and hasn’t been cleared for practice or play. Don’t quote me on that, but I know he isn’t ready to suit up this weekend.
Not counting on him to come back this season.
Yeah, I’m thinking the best we can hope for at this point (football-wise, not personal health-wise) is that he could get a medical redshirt and keep this year of eligibility.
His health is obviously the most important thing.

On that second tweet, the video in the first one has Herman saying he’s still not any closer to returning and that if he does get better this season, they’ll look at the timeframe and have a discussion about medically redshirting him or allowing him to play. The point is moot at this point though.
Does the NCAA allow teams to keep a young man like this on scholarship until his eligibility would have ended if he takes “medical retirement” from football without his scholly counting against the limit? They should. It’s in Samples best interest to focus on his education at this point.
