Just returned from San Antonio. My wife wanted to see Lionel Ritchie “before he dies”. He was playing Dallas, Austin & SA but not Houston.
First visit to Frost Bank Center. Well run operation. Didn’t know they host the Rodeo there.
Warm up act was Earth Wind & Fire with 3 original members including Philip Bailey who can still hit the notes.
Lionel looked bad. Heavily sweating, chugging electrolytes on stage and had to sit down near the end of the 90 minute show. I doubt he makes it through his ambitious tour schedule. Interesting was the duet he did with Kenny Rogers on Lady. Pretty well done. Overall, a well produced show covering most of his songbook.

Went to a couple shows at Armadillo Palace recently, and one at The Big Easy. Trying to check out more of the places around town and smaller groups if possible.
I’ve been to hundreds of concerts. They are just too expensive now. I limit myself to just the bands I really, really want to see. My last concert was The Tedeschi Trucks Band when they played in Sugar Land a couple of years ago. The last concert before that was Steve Winwood, also in Sugar Land. That was probably 2019??? It was before Covid.
I worked for woodforest national bank when I was in undergrad. They had Lionel Ritchie for a 25 year anniversary event (I think it was 25 years) at Cynthia Woods in the mid 2000s for employees.
I skipped it because I had no desire to see him and the woodlands wasn’t anywhere close to where I lived at the time. Not that there is anything wrong with him, just not from my era or style. I think that was around the time his daughter was famous and I mostly knew him as her dad.
Is there a discernible difference in the experience between the most expensive tickets and the others? If I’m going to do this, I’m going all out if it makes a difference.

Some local festival coming up (yes I know it says 2025 but the info is 2026)
I can’t speak to the expense question but I highly recommend that you get tickets in the 300 level followed by the 400 level. You definitely don’t want to be too low.
