When recruits visit, do they attend a practice? Does CKS give the potential incoming freshmen a glimpse into what life is like to be a Cougar?
i dont know the details but sampson has said every single recruit at Houston knows exactly what they are getting into before ever coming here, that’s why we have few transfers, no one is shocked when they get here
Yes they attend practice and just about every aspect of the day in the life as a UH basketball player.
Yes they do. If you remember Jared McCain vlogging about it. They get a glimpse of the offense coach runs.
Why is it that we cannot recruit skilled big men ?
What are you talking about? We’re in the thick of it and lead for two top 10 big men right now.
@Joprior23 you think we still lead with Peat?
Will his commitment come down to Jojo Tugler turning pro?
What is latest intel on Peat and Cenac?
I want a C or F that can a score at least 15ppg with a consistent mid range and decent 3 point shot.
We have enough guards at the moment.
A freshman big that can score 15ppg.
Those are pretty high expectations
Unless our offensive philosophy changes, our bigs will never average that much
10-12ppg is usually the #

Not really… we intentionally try to work the offense through J’Wan often…
12 to 15ppg could be doable. But recent history:
*Jwan ('23-24 season): 9.5ppg
*Jarace ('22-23 season): 11.2ppg
*Jwan ('22-23 season): 10ppg
*Fabian ('21-22 season): 12.5ppg
*Gorham ('20-21season): 8.4ppg
*Fabian ('19-20 season): 9.3ppg
*Devin Davis ('17-18 season): 10.9ppg
Josh Carlton…?
Carlton 11.6ppg (2021-22)
Pretty good averages for those Fs and one real C…
Only JWalk was a frosh in those stat lines, though… so, yeah… highly unlikely a frosh big puts up 15 per game…
Part of the issue with the scoring stuff is we just don’t play at a fast pace. Most years we only have one 15+ ppg scorer on the entire team (last time we had two 15+ scorers was Dots senior year). Double digits is doable but we’re also a deep team that share the rock. Only so many shots to go around.
Aside from the pace, our defense keeps folks from shooting early in the shot clock, so a lot less possessions.
Added, looked it up we were 306th of 360 teams in offensive possession per game. We were also top 10 in offensive efficiency.
$harp, Cryer and Uzan were extremely efficient last game.
The adult angst about two teenagers choosing UH is a bit unsettling to me.
