We did checkerboards back in Robertson. I liked them.
I’d like the checkerboards to come back for maybe one game a year. They shouldn’t be a permanent fixture, but changing it up is nice. Would be a nice feature when we wear our throwback uniforms (or if we ever trot out the fauxbacks again).
The only thing I care about in the end zone is seeing our offensive players celebrating after a TD or our defensive players celebrating after a defensive Pick Six, Scoop and Score, or safety. Other than that it really doesn’t matter to me.
Checker board endzones scream college football. Go for it!
I would love to see it.
I would also love to see a cross promotion between football and basketball, poka dot endzones as a tribute to Guy V and the start of basketball season.
That’d be cool. White with red dots. Could do it Nov 2 against Kansas State. Their seasons starts the 4th.
Wait this is incredible actually
Let’s win some games before we start changing the turf
We’re going to change the field design anyways, so both can be accomplished simultaneously.
Its a great cross over idea and with the success of Kelvin’s team it fits as a commercial/promo for the network broadcasting the game. It honors the legacy of Guy V and transitions to the current team.
We seem to have a lot of exterior decorators among the fan base. I don’t recall a checkerboard end zone design ever winning us a game. But, what do I know, I’ve only been a fan for 60 years.
i like them very collegiate imo, do them every game.
Bring back the skyline end zones!

Consarnit im old so I don’t want nothin nobody else wants
I’ve also just long wanted UH to do something that separates us from the bajillion other red/white/sometimes black/blue/gray teams, and doing polka dots would be a unique nod to our history, much in the same way that Indiana does candy stripe.
I am fine with checkerboard endzones or polkadot endzones, as long as we don’t wear white helmets.
Wrong sport for polka dots. I don’t care what we wear as long as we win.
Nah… Don’t think so.
indiana uses the candy stripes for football and bama uses houndstooth for basketball; ain’t no reason the coogs can’t use polka dots for football.
