Cyndi Lauper deserves to be in. Lots of records sold, plus a background in punk.
Saw her in concert in 9th grade.
Great show. She can really belt it out.
My biggest gripe for a long time was how long it took for them to put KISS in.

Because none of those are Rock and Roll first off. Beiber, really? I don’t think he’s even eligible yet.
But that doesn’t really matter to the RNRHOF.
Priest and Maiden finally made it in, and they are far more deserving than any of those you mentioned based on their careers and influence.
It’s a silly tourist trap, and doesn’t really matter in the end.
There is no world where The Verve is bigger than the White Stripes.
Jack White and by association The White Stripes, are very well deserving. I’m not sure the exact criteria to get in the HoF, but he and the White Stripes epitomize Rock ![]()
You did not get what I wrote. Queen Latifah more deserving than Bieber? Neither are in my view of Rock and Roll or deserve to be in any kind of Rock and Roll hall of fame.
But for a band like Supertramp to not be in says it all.
Paul McCartney has his own view on what he thinks of this so called Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His point of view far outweighs what I think of another point of view pointing out going while in 9th grade to a Cindy Lauper concert.
You’re missing the point Bro.
If Queen Latifa shouldn’t be in because she ain’t rock, then why are you stumping for Christopher Cross?
That ain’t Rock and Roll.
That’s ELEVATOR music.
As for Cyndi Lauper, you obviously have never heard her sing Black Flag.
You still do not get it…but that is always expected with you law.
Cindy Lauper never filled 120,000 in a park like bands like Supertramp did in the 70’s, 80’s. She is not Queen Latifah or Bieber but please her before Supertramp?
This is rock and roll blasphemy.
Doesn’t matter how many fans Supertramp or Cross had.
One is elevator music (Cross), and the other (Supertramp) is borderline elevator music.
Remember, this is the Rock and Roll HOF.
Cyndi Lauper is more Rock than either of them.
Are you sure?
Those are at least two six figure attendance performances that I could find with just a quick Google Search. One with over 300K.
When I saw Lauper in Houston in the mid-80s, it wasn’t a hundred thousand of course, but it was a PACKED venue.
Interestingly enough, the opening act was this group, which later had a few hits of their own.
Elevator music? Whatever law. There is no point of engaging with you…AGAIN.
I haven’t been to the Rock Hall in ages, but there used to be a section for one hit wonders. That’s where White Stripes and the song Seven Nation Army belongs.
Jethro Tull needs to get in too.
They should have been there way before Queen Latifah, Rihana and other pop artists.
Having pop artists in Britney Spears belongs in this mockery of a Rock and Roll Hall of fame.
Ask anyone here.
Cross is elevator music, not Rock and Roll.
Just like with your theory that Jenkins was one of our top head coaches, you probably won’t find anyone else here willing to take your side on that issue.
I guess it’s cool to be the “Lone Ranger” sometimes though.
Now hear me out. I often don’t like the choices the Rock HOF makes. I don’t like Country artists or Rappers getting in UNLESS they have some sort of crossover rock and roll appeal (as in the case of the Beastie Boys).
It was an absolute MORTAL SIN to keep KISS out as long as they did.
And it bugs me that Motley Crue and GWAR aren’t in (though Nikki Sixx might decline any nomination for Motley Crue).
But consider this.
I like a lot of Air Supply songs, but at the end of the day, their status as essentially an elevator music band will probably keep them out.
Same for Cross.
Enjoy your Cindy Lauper. Hey some like her and some don’t. Glad you are having a great time listening to her. Personally her voice would be great if used to end an hostage crisis. The bad guys would deliver their hostages after having to listen to her “cat in heat scratchy” voice…if you want to call that a voice. More power to her for making a ton of money. As far as the others mentioned I would rather listen to my music/band friends than your own version (unknown to anybody else but you)
Again whatever floats your boat.
The White Stripes are not considered a one-hit wonder by most music critics and fans, though they are sometimes labeled as a “technical” one-hit wonder because only 2007’s “Icky Thump” reached the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. They were a highly influential, multi-Grammy-winning band with a deep catalog of successful hits like “Seven Nation Army” and “Fell in Love with a Girl”.
As for The White Stripes, “Seven Nation Army” is really their only song that I’m super familiar with, but its bass-like riff has become such a staple at sporting events that I cannot really consider them to be “obscure” in the face of that.
Are they HOF worthy?
Well, given their accolades, sales, and status as a BONA FIDE “Rock” band, they seem pretty deserving.
Part of the reason it took so long for KISS to get in is because Gene Simmons wanted part of the gate. He wasn’t going to perform for free.
GWAR?? Really?? On what grounds do they deserve to get in?
Answer: for being the ULTIMATE “shock rock” band!
He has been inducted twice.
What quote are you referring too ?
Paul McCartney was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist on March 15, 1999. He also previously entered the Hall as a member of The Beatles in 1988. McCartney has a deep, ongoing relationship with the museum, most notably launching a massive, career-spanning exhibit centered on his post-Beatles 1970s band, Wings
The immersive exhibit provides the most extensive collection of items from McCartney’s personal archives ever made public. Highlights include: [1]
