We were 5-0 after beating Southern, Rice, Temple, Memphis and UTSA. We were about to be ranked and Levine was starting to be whispered as a candidate for P5 gigs including his alma mater Minnesota.

John O’Korn and Greg Ward Jr vs Taysom Hill

Derrick Matthews led the defense.

Receiving corps consisted of Xavier Maxwell, Daniel Spencer, Deontay Greenberry and Demarcus Ayers

Kenneth Farrow and Ryan Jackson was the running back tandem

Aside from Hill, BYU had Ross Apo, Jamaal Williams, Kyle Van Noy, Craig Bills (He would get called for targeting every game if he played now) among others.

With better coaching, both of these teams would have been in a BCS bowl that year.

Aside from the outcome, that was one of the best games I’ve ever attended.

Oof. Yes and no. From an entertainment perspective, it certainly checked all the boxes, but it was a very sloppy game that featured 6 turnovers and 24 penalties. Also, Richie Leone was a cuss word in my house for the remainder of the season after that game.

BYU was a Jamaal Williams or Taysom hill away from being really good this year.

That was a great game.

Oh yeah, Leone was kicking and punting up until that game. Then Ty Cummings took over field goals and Leone just punted.

I’m surprised Cummings didnt play on Sundays. He and Piland were the last time we had any players from Southlake Carroll.

I remember following that game from Afghanistan.

Hated to lose that one.

After the game my party of 4 went to Rudy’s on 290 to get some bbq. The place was full of BYU fans.

We got our food and left.

Would’ve been more fun on campus but that was a great game!

I got married that night. What bad timing. Snuck off to check my phone for updates more than once.

Been to Rudy’s twice. Never again. So many GOOD bbq places to eat in the Houston Area.
