Did a lot to make cable TV what it was.
Didn’t care much for the guy’s activism though.
Like these
Ted Turner is a pioneering media mogul, founder of CNN, and a major philanthropist/activist focused on environmental sustainability, nuclear non-proliferation, and supporting the United Nations.
Really? Interesting.
Did he favor preventing Iran from getting a nuke? If so, then how far was he willing to go to stop it?
Just curious.
Ted Turner co-founded the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) in 2001 with Senator Sam Nunn, investing millions to reduce global reliance on nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons. NTI focused on securing nuclear materials, reducing weapon stockpiles, and preventing proliferation by providing funding and strategic, non-partisan solutions to global security threats.
Surprise he used non military solutions
What if they don’t work, as in Iran’s case?
Would he be OK with using force, in that case?
Just curious.
Did he prevent North Korea or Pakistan from getting nukes?
Turner was a great businessman with vision and initiative, who achieved career success.
Marrying Jane Fonda wasn’t his best acquisition.
Are you not taking enough Ls in the Iran thread?
Since you didn’t answer my questions, I’ll ask them again:
What if they don’t work, as in Iran’s case?
Would he be OK with using force, in that case?
Just curious.
Did he prevent North Korea or Pakistan from getting nukes?
Please be candid in your response!
Flag, Law is off topic
Just think back to the old political board for any answers you need
You said Turner was big on nuclear non-proliferation.
But what did he do about North Korea and Pakistan, and what would he be willing to do about Iran?
Answer: obviously not enough.
It’s not off topic.
The topic here is Turner, so my posts are completely ON topic.
And YOU brought up Turner’s nuclear non-proliferation thing. I’m simply testing to see if it’s really true, or of nothing else, actually effective.
Guess not.
So the activism you’re against is peace
Oh trust me. I’m all for whatever peaceful methods exist to prevent bad actors from getting nukes.
But as we’ve seen, that doesn’t always work.
Just wondered if he believed in nuclear non-proliferation enough to use force to bring it about, if necessary.
Off topic hecause his initiative was about reducing current nuclear weapons
Ted Turner’s initiative, the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) founded in 2001, focused on both securing “loose” nuclear materials from the former Soviet Union and addressing the dangers posed by current, active nuclear weapons
Off topic and another L
That’s not exactly “non-proliferation.”
Non-proliferation would mean making such WEAPONS … LESS widespread, and especially keeping them out of the hands of bad actors, like the regimes in North Korea and Iran (and arguably Pakistan as well).
We gave Pakistan the nuke
No we didn’t.
They did that on their own.
