I didn’t realize Rob Williams had scored that many points. Watching the 30 for 30 series on Phi Slamma Jamma, I assumed Rob had some amazing games where he showed it was the best to ever play, but didn’t string together a formidable career together. Don’t know if they presented it poorly, or if I assumed too much there.

Gray had 19 and puts him at 1,532 points, passing Aubrey Coleman for 11th all-time. He’s 16 short of Rickie Winslow to put him into the top 10.

Rob had 3 huge scoring seasons for UH. He averaged 25ppg as a sophomore. I think some have downplayed his career based on how his personal life went off the rails after he left UH.

Rob Williams was the best point guard ever from the City of Houston and the best point guard in UH history.

And Rob was a key foundation block in Phi Slama Jama since he helped UH to attract other top Houston area players like Michael Young, Clyde Drexler & Larry Micheaux.

Congrats to Rob Gray as he climbs up the charts. Probably my favorite player of the last 20 years. He certainly belongs on that list.

Off Topic: The list of top scorers shows how important local talent has been to the Coogs over the years–

Young and Winslow-- Yates
Rob Williams, Kenneth Williams, Tim Moore-- Milby
Davis, Micheaux, and Anderson-- Worthing
Franklin-- LaMarque
Coleman-- Marshall
Drexler-- Sterling
Smith-- Hightower

11 of our top 25 scorers of all time have come from Harris, Ft Bend, and Galveston Counties
