Robert Reid, Former Houston Rocket, Passes Away

I remember Robert from his playing days at St. Mary’s in San Antonio, when they played UH at Hofheinz Pavillion. Robert was a fan favorite as a Rocket. He succumbed to cancer yesterday.

Sad news. RIP Mr. Reid.

Sad. I personally never knew him, met him a few times. My wife knew him well, went to a gym where he was a member and they yakked all the time, movies, coogs, etc. He was outgoing and everyone seemed to like him. RIP.

If I remember right, Reid got into a fist fight with now Lt. Governor Dan Patrick who was a sports reporter on TV and then radio back in the 90’s.

He was so much fun to watch. Back in the day when us commoners could afford (and enjoy) season tickets, he was a favorite. Always seemed to be having fun.

Just saw this. Damn, loved Robert. He was a class act in real life as on the court. R.I.P. Mr. Reid. Prayers to his family and to his friends. Men I loved these Rockets teams.

Never heard that before, pretty funny. RIP Robert Reid.

I remember when he did color on some UH radio broadcasts if I got to the game early me and a friend would yell Bobby Joe and he would always wave back he was loved by the fans in Houston.

All this time, I thought he played at St, Mary’s in Cali. RIP Bobby Joe!

I was fortunate enough to play against Robert when they had the pro-am league going at Fonde in the 80’s. Great guy. Fond memories.

Those guys lived amongst the commoners, their kids went to school with the commoners and they hung out with the commoners also lol
