Yeah, I just posted that on another thread. Crazy to think they want him back. He will do well there because they have elite players.

Well, what the hell do I know. Vitello is bringing Kivett back to Tennessee. To say I am shocked would be an understatement. I don’t think he will have a big impact but he will be at Tennessee. They already have elite players.
Did something happen with TN staff after the CWS? Did they lose someone and he filled that spot?
Maybe I’m wrong but my take is Kivett was a rising star and a good recruiter and this will hurt us?

Well he wasnt hired away by Rice. He was hired by the best coaching staff in the country, so I’m presuming he does something right.

Or he could just know someone….you know how coaching circles go.
Great coaches make a difference with average talent.
I saw nothing from him that screams great coach.

As I said on another post, what in the hell has he done while at UH? He was given the reigns by TW to run the team and the team has sucked EVERY YEAR!
Talent (ie recruiting) is more to blame than coaching.
Dusty Baker couldn’t have gotten to a regional with our roster the last few years.

Dusty Baker isn’t a college coach and these aren’t major leaguers. There has been enough talent to be a more competitive squad, but they aren’t being developed. Hell, I’m not sure they aren’t being coached DOWN.
Regardless, it’s TW’s JOB to get talent in the door and develop it. He hasn’t done either, and he can’t blame that on anyone but himself. This program has had enough financial support to make it happen. All he delivers is excuses.

When you are the “Recruiting Coordinator” it is your job to recruit the talent. This isn’t professional baseball. Yes, it is part of CW’s job as well, but you are only going to be as good as your recruiting coordinator recruits.
And on top of that, they had a lot better talent than their finish in the Big 12! That is on the “hitting and fielding coach” as well!
