Rumor: NFL to allow its players to do flag football in 2028 olympics

IF this is true…then who do you want on Team USA’s first ever flag football “dream” team?

I wonder if teams will draft liability waivers for players that choose to play flag football in the Olympics.

In the article, they mentioned that one of the issues to be resolved is “insurance” for NFL players that might get hurt playing flag football.

Imagine a “dream team” with Mahomes at QB!

Wait a minute how many will pass the Olympic drug tests?
Can you imagine an nfl player playing flag football in the Olympics, fails an Olympic drug test then. Keep in mind that the IOC has a much more precise drug testing policies…Does the nfl suspend the player?

I remember Robert Edwards coming off a great rookie year ripping up his knee playing flag football at the pro bowl and it ended his career. I can’t believe owners and GM’s are excited about this move.

How in the hell is flag football an Olympic Sport? Makes as much sense break dancing last time. These friggin people. :expressionless:

We have 3 v 3 basketball as an Olympic sport lol

Let’s not trash on non-revenue Olympic sports now.
Many Coogs have represented their nations in sports many of us don’t care about in non-Olympic years.

The NFL is spending money marketing it as a less-contact alternative to tackle football. A bunch of teams, among them the Texans, hosted a girls flag football tournament here recently. Maybe pushing high schools to make it a varsity sport?

This all-sports private school in Spring by me won that tournament.

That’s the school our QB commit is at (boys team, not girls :grinning:)

The FAI (Federation Aeronautique Internationale) have made pushes for Skydivng/Parachuting to be included. The IOC will have to contract every nobel laureate in chemistry to figure out what would show up in their body.

I’m curious to see what other countries participate for flag football. Canada and some western European countries. Any place else?
