Dammit
I recently read a article stating Rice owns rice village land and the shop spaces that are there. How the heck does UH not own that space? Are they that out of touch. I was always looking for food around campus and could never find anything I wanted to eat when I was there. Pinks actually came in clutch for a study night. It’s ridiculous to take out so many food options because of rent.
UH royally screwed up by not buying up every single bit of land they could afford.
Pinks became too expensive. Students don’t want to pay all that money for pizza when dominoes is down wheeler. Sometimes in college all that matters is that it’s cheap and it fills you up
Used to love going to Pinks but tbh it had kind of gone down the drain
It’s bc the third ward is changing. Average home cost there is almost 400k and that’s high.
Go try and buy in the 3rd ward, it’s high now vs decades ago.
Like Dylan said the times are a changing
Except they did the same exact thing. Every bar besides LW was pushed out to make room for artisanal sandwich shops.
RIP Ginger Man
I hate to post this because the place is crazy busy enough on game days. The Den has their act together! It’s where we’ve been going for a while. Good service, good food, complete beverage selection and a great atmosphere. Coog memorabilia on the walls everywhere you look. We tailgate on Football Saturday but have stopped in a few times before hitting the parking lot. On Football Saturday lots of tv’s showing multiple games. And a solid music variety. They have a good crowd before Basketball games too. So I guess it’s down to The Den and Mandola’s now for us!
I heard that Insomnia Cookie is opening next to campus. That’s good stuff.
No, but seriously…Rent is too high, this is a problem
Wait WHERE cause there is one near Rice.
I believe that it will be the building across the street from the softball field. I think it’s an apartment/ dorm?
You would think graduates from the #1 entrepreneurship program in America could find a solution for this rent issue…
Damn… The Ginger Man closed???
Where is the den?
Found it! Yep, that’s where it’s happening
For the new ‘Food Hall’ on campus coming in the Spring, the food will be:
Burger Joint, Taco Stand, Paper Lantern (sushi), Absurd Bird (hot chicken), a Market, and The Nook (damn it not another one)
Have always liked Nooks and is great for students. Though the upstairs has been poorly managed.
Wishful thinking but if Star Pizza came in and took over the former Pinks…would be the bomb.
Brothers Pizza would be cool too
