Rumor on Twitter this week that Pink’s Pizza on campus is closing, landlord went way up on the rent. I know that was a really popular pre-game spot for a lot of us basketball STH, hopefully we get another good spot in that space.
Nooooo
How can you even do that? I know some of these places are doing 15k 20k a month. How can the justify that or another business justify that when it’s hard enough as it is to get restaurants to open there the entire time, I mean I don’t even think the nook bar is doing well.
They did this to Calhoun’s, Chinese Star and Jimmy Johns.
WHO IS GOING TO USE THOSE SPOTS IF THEY KEEP RAISING RENT?!?!
maaaaaaaan we used to crush some Chinese Star after practice, good times!
Nook is definitely not doing great. Taking over Calhoun’s space was a huge mistake.
Why do landlords always screw up good things?!
The customer service and way they operate at Pink’s has regressed greatly, but that’s an entirely different subject. Crazy that the strip center owner has no snap! It should tell them something when a popular sub sandwich business and a Pizza restaurant / bar can’t justify staying open being located directly across the street from such a huge University Dormitory!
Yeah I was shocked when I was told that Pink’s was closing at 9. I was so used to them being open til 2 am
So where can we eat on campus now before a football game?
Maybe ItzaPizza will take over the spot.
Me, circa 1991 in the basement of the Towers…
“What is this crap?!?”
“Itza Pizza”
When I lived in the towers I envied the kids who could afford Itza Pizza even though I knew it was bad
Commercial tax rates been going up in Houston and Harris county. Passing those savings along to the tenants.
Average house price in the 3rd ward is 390k.
Rents just going up there
If Pink’s had closed when my kids were students at UH, they would’ve probably transferred out,
Oh my god…
Jimmy johns closed.
Bullritos closed.
Pizza Hut closed.
Subway closed.
Pinks next?
How is Nook surviving, that place sucks.
All of these places closed in the past few months. WHO KEEPS RAISING THE RENT
Where’s the Twitter thread?
