Damn.

Israel must be sharing techniques, tactics, and procedures with Ukraine.

So the peace process between Russia and Ukraine doesn’t include Ukraine or Europe but does include Russia, United States and Saudi Arabia?

WTF is happening? The math isn’t mathing and the logic isn’t logical. :man_shrugging:

It is offensive to see Ukraine being blamed for a war they did not start.

Putin is determined to get his puppet regime in Ukraine and it seems we are going to help him do it.

A very unfortunate development indeed. I hope that this doesn’t keep up.

Plans seem to be in place to restore embassies and lift sanctions on Russia. They will not give up anything, even though they invaded and started the war. They will force Ukraine to hold new elections all the while via media they will attack Zelensky and blame him for starting the war, while Russia will prop up a candidate to challenge him. We are turning our backs on an ally.

Very disappointing for sure.

Certain supporters will believe it though.

He should have NEVER blamed Ukraine, that was just dumb.

But this war has to be stopped because it is now a frozen meat grinder. Even if you take the stance, good Russia is getting what they deserve (which they are), Ukrainians are dying as well. Most wars don’t end with one side winning and the other side losing. The vast majority of wars end at the negotiating table and map lines get redrawn.

Why can the U.S. meet with Russia? Because we are bankrolling the thing. We have spent $66 BILLION in 3 years keeping this war afloat. The next highest is Germany at $11 Billion with very little of it being armaments. So as the Europeans are aghast at us not getting their blessing, well step up to the plate and spend as much we do. We are tired of being taken advantage of. Which no doubt the Europeans have taken advantage of the United States generosity.

If you asked Americans if they would rather the $66 Billion be spent at home what do you think their answer would be?

Ukraine has to be at the table. This can’t be on Russia’s terms. They did this and shouldn’t be benefiting from it.

If the only way to stop it is to let Russia win, it shouldn’t be stopped. Jmo

This wouldn’t be new for you know who. I know I am at risk for talking politics, but you know who did the same thing in the 'stan by talking only with the Taliban and disregarding/excluding the 'stan’s elected government from the talks.

I hope the mods won’t shut this string down for that, because this particular topic is too important as a matter of current events.

They will be at the table. It won’t happen without them, Rubbio has said that. But since we are the proxy master and Russia is the target of our proxy war it is a good idea to meet with them first. Far more efficient that way.

Past that normalization of relations with Russia is important. This is a reverse Nixon to China. China is the real enemy and the chance that this could lead to a hot war is better than 50%.

We will see. I’m not as convinced about how this will work out.

Only a small percentage of the aid allocated for Ukraine goes to them in the form of cash. The majority is spent here, in the country given to companies that make munitions. The aid to Ukraine has created and kept jobs in the country. We are giving Ukraine older munitions and replacing it with new ones.

Most ‘aid to Ukraine’ is spent in the US. A total shutdown would be irresponsible. - Breaking Defense

I can’t post other articles because it uses banned names.

Like from a PBS article.

“As President Joe B iden pushes House Republicans to pass needed aid, he wants voters to understand that nearly two-thirds — or nearly $40 billion — of the money for Ukraine would actually go to U.S. factories spread out across the country including plants in Lima, Ohio and Scranton, Pennsylvania as well as Mesquite.”

“While this bill sends military equipment to Ukraine,” B iden said Tuesday, “it spends the money right here in the United States of America in places like Arizona, where the Patriot missiles are built; and Alabama, where the Javelin missiles are built; and Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas, where artillery shells are made.”

Yes, it would be difficult to know for sure. But ending the war is the right thing, I just wish he wouldn’t open his mouth.

It’s not just that he should keep his mouth shut.

It’s that a) he shouldn’t blame the victims rather than the aggressors, and b) he should be engaging the victims, NOT the aggressors first; after engaging the victims, THEN he can get together with the aggressors and try to work something out.

He did this the completely BACKASSWARDS and immoral way, in my view.

It is still tax payers money going to fund a foreign war. All the justifications I have heard that it is funding American defense contractors (dubious claim) still doesn’t change the fact that American taxpayers are bankrolling this.

November more than anything else was common Americans saying “what about me”.

Don’t disagree completely.
