Wonder Ward finds success on special teams in victory against Legends

But while the Commanders wideout still is adjusting to his role in head coach Mike Riley’s offense, his speed and ability to make defenders miss never disappeared. On Sunday against the Atlanta Legends, Ward’s speed was on full display.

“Greg has been an impressive athlete,” Riley said. “From the minute I saw him in our training camp, I appreciated him.”

Ward only made two catches for 13 yards but electrified the crowd on special teams. Late in the second quarter, the Legends were forced to punt, pinning Ward deep in his own territory.

I predict that the “new” will wear off this league and the XFL too in a short period of time. I love watching former Coogs play but the overall quality of play is lacking and as someone pointed out it’s borderline NFL quality which I see as a negative. It’s NOT as good as the NFL and it won’t ever be. Other than a few players that stand out it will be football of the quality you can find anywhere almost anytime. I prefer watching high school 7 on 7 to this.

It’s not great football, but it is better than no football. It just feels,like there is a lack of big plays, everything is too vanilla.

When I watch the games I feel like there is a lot of good talent everywhere except for the quarterback position. The only quarterback who has looked good is Garret Gilbert and at times that makes me suspicious about the defensive players he’s going against.

So one could ask are some players looking good because the quarterbacks are not that good or is there truly some good talent out there.
