Yeah, considering the majority of the folks responsible for 911 came from Saudi, and their leader was from Saudi.

Read some article (have to find it later) that said that the Energy Secretary signed off on the deal and announced it before he had explicit approval from the White House. If true, what a cluster.

It does. It sounds like it was agreed to tentatively whatever that means.
My guess is it was blessed and it didn’t go over well once announced.
