I cannot believe that the Big 10 academics are so highly regarded. The average Michigan State freshman has a 3.8 out of 4.0 GPA.
Michigan is about the same.
That means the average freshman is scoring better than a 95% or better in their entire freshmen classes.
Real academic schools at one time had the average student at a C or 2.0-2.5 out of four.
Reports suggest that because the government gives out so much money that these universities don’t want to lose students to other schools if they qualify to get in.
They tell profs that they need higher grades and often the admin stands behind the students who they see as “customers” rather than students.
When the average student has a mid-A average, then they are not challenging the student. And they are no pushing higher education.
And but for a few Big 10 schools, most of the state schools are like this.
