Schools with most Billionaires

Note list excludes counting people like Mark Zuckerberg who dropped out. Also
notice the lack of Texas schools presence here and the few schools that participate in D1 football. I counted only 5 of the 14.

And 1/3 of the schools are foreign.

Five Ivies are on the list.

They also participate in Division I football (FCS).

Thanks for the correction. There are only 5 playing in the highest tier.

I was hard pressed to find number of UH alumni that are in the billionaire range.
Fertitta took some classes, but is not a graduate. Who am I overlooking ?

Tony Buzbee is close.

About $700 million last I checked.

My law school classmate.

It’s a pretty elite group to make that top
21 list. At this point, I’m not sure how many ( if any ?) , we may have.

Where did you see Buzbee is worth 700 million ? All I can find is estimates of around 50 million. Maybe you confused that with value of client cases he has won and not his personal net worth ?

Dec 9, 2024 — As of 2024, Tony Buzbee’s net worth is estimated at $50 million, reflecting his success as one of Texas’s top

Regardless of his net worth, he seems to identify more as an Aggie.

Indeed.

Which is bad, given that it is his UH law degree that is the source of his wealth, NOT his Aggie bachelor’s degree.

Anyway, I had seen $700 million at one point, but my last Google search seems to confirm what you say.

I stand corrected.

That said, Randa Williams is definitely a multi-billionaire.

She has a law degree from UH, though her undergrad is from Rice.

Wow, she is loaded. I actually did not know anything about her. That Rice UH split makes me wonder who can claim her  Hope she a Buzbee opposite. Looks like
the Duncan Family Foundation is oriented to supporting medical and health institutions. Hopefully the UH med school will benefit from them in the future.

While doing my search for other Houston billionaires, I was looking at Rich and Nancy Kinder. No they are not UH grads, but they have a net worth of 8.1 billion and have pledged to give away 95% of it. Cool thing about them is they like to target their philanthropy in the community they live and education is one of their
foundations areas. Rice has gotten some nice sized donations as well as
SMU ( ugh ) and Missouri. But UH has been shut out from them so far :frowning:

Funny quote from Rich…

“Being rich doesn’t make you smart, you know, and a lot of rich people should be hit over the head with that idea. Some of them are here in Texas, too,” Rich says with a chuckle.

Nice write up about them; seem very down to earth.

So, we have one?

Maybe.
Depends on how you count and who is doing the counting.
If based on undergrads that are billionaires, the UT Sytem shows up as #12
with count of 10.

I’m kinda surprised to not see Cal Tech or Notre Dame on these lists.
