Season Finished WBK

Season ended today for the lady hoopers. What are yalls thoughts about this season and the future of the program?

They seemed to play hard, were in games until they would run out of gas.

Hope to see some improvements next season.

One B12 win is not good. Up from here.

Started off looking lively & energetic in OOC games… then we entered the Big 12 schedule and got shown who we really are, despite there being moments of talent & competence.

LSU vet transfer Kateri Poole’s season-ending injury halfway thru the season didn’t help & could have pushed us to maybe 1 or 2 more wins, if I’m optimistic. Wonder if we actually win against K-State at home if she was in, for example.

We have some interesting HS recruits and whoever ends up staying will hopefully help carry on the good things CMM was able to transmit thru the team this season.

The team played hard and fought to the end. The roster was flawed and losing a couple of players didn’t help.

I like Mitchell’s system and he kept the team in games into the 4th quarter with some nice adjustments but the talent wasn’t there. Probably one of the worst shooting teams I have seen.

This offseason is big and they need to hit some portal evaluation home runs. Need to retain the freshman, Ross and Merchant for next year. The 2 freshman hopefully will make a jump this offseason in there development. The portal needs imo:

Vet pg
Size and SHOOTING on the wing
Better frontcourt depth

Need to show marked improvement next year

Keeping your team in games where you’re outmanned is a step in the rebuilding process. I would have preferred the money be spent on a baseball coach but “Alea iacta est.”

Go Coogs.

Yeah I think baseball when we are rolling has much more upside potential than women’s basketball

Both lose money but I guess it comes down to who will lose less. What are the avg baseball players getting in NIL right now?

Baseball doesn’t have to lose. With more attendance (better product) and concessions and parking, they can turn a profit.

Go look at the top baseball programs, very few make money. I doubt we have the resources to go all in to turn a profit.

Yeah like others said, 1 win isn’t good. But they were close to a lot of other wins (like Kansas State which probably only was a loss because of the fight and they’re in the Big 12 tournament semis). Kansas State has a freshman from Katy playing well for them - I’ve said in other threads that this area isn’t as good in women’s hoops as it is in volleyball and soccer, but you have to keep players like that in Houston.

Tennessee will have a lot of roster turnover.

I read that one of the assistants was undermining the coach and telling the players not follow what she was saying. So they lost all the players and 2 assistants.
