A fanbase filling your stadium is embarrassing. And you don’t have this problem in Provo, so respectfully, to me, your opinion isn’t top priority on this subject.
I hope so.
I get that it’s not to the same degree that Houston has the problem.
I’d still rather have the seats full so that Houston can buy a running back or left tackle, especially in the revenue sharing era.
It would be super frustrating if over half the stadium was away fans like some speculate with tech.
This is a fan problem, not a ticket office problem.
Especially where the price point is.
Because it’s a fan problem, the ticket office should do something about it, like TCU does.
Right.
I’m not even sure what the ask is here. Demand some kind of fan loyalty test before selling season tickets? Even some of our own fans would fail that.
TCU does some sort of ticketing thing (I’m not sure exactly all of the details) that helps keep Tech fans out. Apparently, it works.
It hasn’t really “worked” in the sense that Tech fans still outnumber TCU fans for most games in Ft. Worth. Unless you’re going to forbid season ticket holders from re-selling, the answer is for home fans to buy the tickets and go the the game. That’s it.
And if you don’t know what TCU is doing, why would you propose that we do the same thing?
They pick a game and make it where there are no single ticket sales for that game. They are only available to season ticket holders.
Tech fans do not outnumber TCU fans in Fort Worth. They do usually have a decent showing though.
Because Tech fans still complain about it, which means it must work.
This is the answer I expect from a TCU fan and it’s certainly not true every season.
Regardless, the only thing keeping opposing fans from buying up season tickets for one game is the economics of the deal. In our case, choosing not to sell single-game ticket would hurt our attendance, too, because we have such a weak season ticket base. It would just guarantee a half-empty stadium.
I would be ok with that. It happens often anyways. lol
I don’t know how much it reduces their attendance (season ticket holders do make some money from them), but watching them complain makes it all worthwhile. They have very high attitude about themselves, but have never done anything to back it up.
Yes, they do. 100% lol
You must be a Tech fan. No, Tech has not outnumbered TCU fans in Fort Worth at least in the last 30+ years. Can’t speak for the 70s. Do you have some ticket sales stats that show otherwise? Have you been to any Tech - TCU games in Fort Worth?
I’ve never been to a game where half the fan base is the opposing team… even UT.
I need @UHCoog to channel Case Keenum vibes in Robertson the last time we beat Tech.
I was there… and I’ll be there when we beat them this year!
I was there too. Most of the stadium was UH fans. But that team also had Case Keenum, beat OK State and had a lot of momentum. The program isn’t there right now. They HAVE to start the season well. No hiccups at Rice. Beating Colorado would be a plus too. And I would disagree about the UT game. It felt 50-50.
Not in the lower bowl…
