When President Khator came along she had to replace our negotiators in Austin to get us to a higher level of income. I think the AAC will need to make the same kind of changes.
I guess in this set up you play a 9 game conference schedule, your 4 pod members and 5 in another pod that you are lined up with that year in the same “division”? Top division teams play for championship. Every two years switch which pods are in the same division.
That would definitely be the easiest from a competitive standpoint, but basically everyone in the conference needs access to either Texas or Florida. Navy, in particular, joined the conference with the understanding they’d be playing in Texas, and would be very unhappy with this arrangement.
Maybe we just go East/West, take UConn instead of BYU, and flip Navy to the West? 9 games, no crossover, but everyone gets what they need from a recruiting standpoint.
It has to be awkward for Aggie to their such a hissy fit and then to go sit in the corner and play with their toys when they got told to by the grown ups
The invitation is effective July 1, 2025. Lot of animosity and angst between now and then. Of course, that may change after a lot of posturing and legal maneuvers. Meanwhile, the AAC can build it’s image a lot before it accepts refugees from the B12. They may get some help in that from ESPN.
Regardless, the next TV deal with the remnants of the B12 will be a small fraction of what is is currently.
