Semi-OT: BYU qb Retzlaff will transfer in order to avoid 7 game suspension

Since he graduated in April, the transfer portal window doesn’t affect him.

99% of those guys should be suspended seven games then.

I dont think BYU really wanted to punish him over this but with this being a national story, their hands are tied. Especially considering the controversial history of the Honor Code office.

Most LDS players have a bishop or ward leader, etc. who pull some strings that help the HC office look the other way as long as it isn’t anything too major.

In this case,

  1. Retzlaff is Jewish not LDS
  2. There’s too much publicity around this and the nature of SA allegations is too serious for the school not to do anything since players and regular students have been suspended for far less.

Well… hopefully, it was consensual… if not hope he gets karma in prison…

Sounded to me like it was 100% because their hands were tied….said it was consensual was admitting to breaking the code.

Triggered the 7 games……religion played no part in it….All players that play for BYU sign it regardless of religion.

Maybe they have had private conversations with the kid and believe his side of it….i don’t think he was suspended because of the allegations……we have soon to many situations where guys were falsely accused to jump the gun.

It’s always consensual until it isn’t. The money grab with sexual activity has gone berserk. Not responding to this particular situation, but thank goodness I was a nobody and broke. :sunglasses:

The worst I could be charged with now is assault with a dead weapon. :joy::joy:

this is a very serious topic so I don’t plan to start:

However, I got about 1000 jokes running through my head.

God forgive me.
