Semi-OT: High school NIL now legal in North Carolina after judge signs order

Frequently, in and around major cities, the schools that continue (for a time) to be dominant in their area, are relatively new and upscale neighborhoods and often have low and medium income neighborhoods around the area. Dulles was really good at one time. Lots of pro athletes lived in and around Quail Valley. The power in that area has moved with all of the new development around that school. Just my casual observation.

Dulles was good at one time due to some things

  1. Only school in FBISD until Willowridge in the late 70s and no stafford isd and they still had a strong zone until Elkins opened which took all of quail valley and areas of Cartwright - the district did all they could to help them when Elkins opened by removing communities closer to Willowridge to them but eventually it dried up

A lot of folks didn’t know a lot of the players who played for the oilers in the 70s settled in the Willowridge zone so you had strong bloodlines - those kids eventually have moved to shadow creek and Iowa colony

North Shore - Older area but tons of apartments and no competition on that side of town for talent - trust me their zone extends ways past what’s listed when it comes to athletes

Katy - find ways to win despite a small zone and growth all around them - but they’ve benefited from outside help to stay competitive at times

Atascocita & Summer Creek - newer areas but do some digging a lot of the athletes parents come from North Forest and Aldine and alot of east Texas, golden triangle folks live out there - plus tons of apartments also and close to the city to attract good talent not in the zones

RIP Aldine ISD  Nimitz is trying to hold on but it’s hard -

Cy Fair has too many schools which has diluted the area - only schools zoned to Fairfield win (bridgelands)

I remember Willowridge and Clements had a huge rivalry in the late 80s. You don’t hear much about either any more.
