I saw many people upset as they should be on FB. Many people were saying they won’t consider UH ror their kids anymore.

I said it before, that if I was coming outta HS now instead of 15 years ago, I wouldn’t have gone to UH.
Im really glad I cane to UH at its peak in the 2010s. The university has to regain its 2010s momentum.

We’re not talking about UT. We’re talking about UH.
If your daughter, sister, aunt or mother was attacked, you wouldn’t be on here trying to deflect.
Making UH safer shouldn’t be something ANYBODY would be against.
I’m not deflecting… I’m responding to 2 posters that are making the assumption that other campuses are safer than UH.

This should have never happened. Now the authorities have to make an example of this p.o.s.
We also need to find the facts of who that p.o.s. is.
Is he a U of H student? Has he been suspended before?
Where is he coming from? Etc…
I have two daughters and i am 100% fine for them to attend U of H.
At least we caught the p.o.s. Let’s hope he was acting alone. None of is acceptable.
There is another factor for anyone thinking that U of H is not a safe campus. Do you even know that we now have more students i believe living on campus that utamafia or atm? The days of commuter school are long gone. I was on campus six months ago as well as the TSU campus. Both campus have made huge changes.
I will add another comment to this. Can a lawyer chime in. Why is it that video camera are not all over campus? Who knows I might be wrong we might have them. The question that I have is about privacy laws. I am under the understanding that all campuses have close to 100% video coverage.
Do we have warning signage all over campuses that says “you are on camera”?

I just want the environment to be safe for everyone. You’re never gonna be 100% safe but you take steps to get better. Georgia Tech is about the same scenario as us. They’ve done some unique things with call boxes and cameras that deter crime. Not sure if it’s perfect for us.
The only reason I know this is my daughter and I visited the campus.

Very glad they caught the perp. Hopefully this is just some random ahole and not a pattern.
Both my kids went to UH. My son lived at Cougar Place but spent a lot of time at the Icon where his girlfriend lived. He would go back and forth at all hours of the day and night on his bike. I always told him to keep his head on a swivel and thankfully had no issues.
My daughter lived at the new Quad and eventually moved to University lofts. That was good because it’s close to Cullen Engineering…where she had most of her classes.
When I was there back in the day, remember walking across campus at all hours of the night…never had a problem.

It seems to me that kids raised in the Ward always abided by a certain etiquette regarding the university. Be nice to the school. I’ve never had an issue. But these days things gettin’ crazy as Hell. You can get stabbed for taking too long at a gas pump.
(Not implying this guy is from the 3rd.)
