Should I be worried

Kelvin will stay but it is important Pez find a way to get those students to games. I like the guy but some OOTB thinking is in order.

thatll happen regardless in the big 12, thats mostly texas teams.

interest in games won’t be an issue…we are already selling out in a weak aac year, they just arent showing up despite having season tickets

the issue will be getting big donor tickets to show up to the games, or coming up with a method to give up their seats, or flipping the camera

I just hope we don’t end up being the ones that ā€œmessed with happy.ā€

i think kellen and kelvin have indirectly hinted at this numerous times… theyve hinted that they prefer the aac… that they are happy for ā€œThe fansā€ but wont affect much in basketball…

we can easily and regularly get 2-3 seeds in the aac consistently, even on rebuilds … the WORST big 12 team is a top 65 team…the regular season will be more fun, but will be fighting for seeding in the big 12…

at ths point in his career sampson is probably looking for postseason success over ā€œcompetitve regular seasonā€ā€¦
thats also why i think they will put emphasis on going big next year

Question to you @pesik ? Been giving some thought next to next year’s Roster. Assuming that Sasser returns, so your starting 3 backcourt players are Shead, Mark, Sasser, then assuming that incoming Walker starts at PF. If Walker & Sasser is where the priority is going for the play to start plays etc. Wouldn’t you thk that CKS maybe goes back to using a Center that is more defensive minded or maybe someone who can stretch floor like maybe FT range. I just don’t see another one like Carlton bc to me those will be touches for Walker next season. Just something I’ve been trying to decifer on how thgs will be put together. #GoCoogs

We need to have videos of rowdy student sections shown at orientation and change the culture at our games to be more rowdy. UH fan is Houston sports fan and I feel like unless its the mlb playoffs or the Texans are good, the crowd is always pretty tame. Although, back when I was on campus, the big games were always a madhouse.

walker is not a scorer that you run your offense through (not yet, and probably not as a freshman) he is a type that exploits mismatches (posts up smaller players, drives on bigger players)…he has never been a high-volume scorer (in part becuase he’s always played at IMG his whole career)…
and at img they play 5 out (all 5 players have guard skill, and play on the perimeter- and clear the post for spacing)… walker wouldnt conflict with a Carlton type- as walker doesnt hang around the post (he’s mostly a driver, not postup guy - unless its an undersized guy)

his impact will be rebounding, defense (can switch on anyone), but then only around 8-10 pts per on good matchups and putbacks

i think we will go for a carlton type, who is post dominant player who can draw double teams in the post… and can work as an extension of shead and mark
but then bigs in the portal are hard to get… you never know what you can get…everyone noteable has every blue blood on them…

i hope Malcolm Dandridge (from Memphis) goes in the portal, who i think is like carlton but buried in depth (great post scorer) and i think will be overlooked by the blue bloods --fits the carlton mold and circumstance

I appreciate it. I definitely misread on what Walker brings. I thought he was going to be a force down low on post ups etc. Tell me again how the heck do these guys expect to be 1 n done. I’m so Old School w/ Basketball that it gets frustrating at times. Ok appreciate the tutorial, I needed it. I watch tons of COLLEGE Basketball but I don’t really follow the H.S. kids for recruiting purposes. … for several reasons.

Dandridge is good… The Memphis vs. ECU game I just watched he was getting pretty good minutes, though.

The transfer portal addition, if we get one, I think will be like a Taze Moore situation.

Unknown, from a smaller school, but talented.

I’m looking at 247 Recruiting, the PF and Centers, we made offers to in high school, the last 4 years:

Nobody tearing it up. Some guys have already transferred once.

Dandridge, is a good name. Played against him for 3 years. Does he have a low post game? I know Memphis uses him in pick and roll

Carlton was a great get. Not alot of 6’10", experienced, scorers out there in CBB.

Would we settle for a 6’ 8" low post scorer, like Devin Davis type? That might be easier to find in the portal

devin davis was a 4, i doubt we’s go for a 4… but a 6’8 breon brady type we might go for
Dandridge is a good low post scorer, has really good touch…, probably the best on Memphis, but between being buried in-depth, and fast pace offense (that doesn’t allow setting up post-ups) it isn’t highlighted much…

his situation is almost identical to Carlton’s - not highly thought of, Memphis fans probably wouldn’t even be upset if he left (like uconn), but has the size and skill to be dominant, had great games against Houston, so Sampson is aware of him

I also doubt we go midmajor/small school- for guards/wing? yes, there is an abundance of them to easily find gems…there’s a 16+ scoring guard on almost every team in the nation… not with bigs, every big with size and production even from small schools is still gold, and everyone is after them (limit supply)…Tre Mitchell from a not-good umass everyone wanted him…
if we go mid-major, we are looking at like A 6’7 center … i m hoping we go after high major guys buried in-depth, the only reason they aren’t playing is because a 5star or all American is in front of them

another option that might go in the portal, is to double-dip in uconn and grab Akok Akok… scary elite level shotblcoker, not a post scorer but can shot the 3…another guys sanogo in buring in depth there , sanogo is coming back and they are adding a top 50 center
