Atlanta has had three bites at the apple. We have had none.

Why is this even a debate.

We already have the name and logo ready!

I like the original Aeros colors and theme.

No. I’ll give you two reasons.

#1 - the color scheme is too close to the Dallas Stars. We do not want that.

#2 - The original name “Aeros” was slated for an expansion team in Dayton, Ohio to pay homage to the Wright brothers. The reason it stuck when the team was chartered for Houston was because of our space program. That is somewhat weak.

I’m looking for something that is relatable to the people and industry down here. If you want to go the space route, then go the space route. If you want to go petroleum/refining/energy, that’s fine too.

Houstonians are clamoring for Columbia blue to come back into the fold for one of our franchises. This could be THE golden opportunity to make a primary color of one of our professional sport franchises some iteration of Houston/Oiler blue.

Still prefer this.

Petroleros and tell Edmonton and nashville to stuff it.

Realistically I’ve always liked apollos, ever since I first heard of sharpstown apollos

I like the Lions blue and maybe gray as a color combo. Call them the Drillers.

The team name should be either the Aeros (if we can get it; the Minnesota Wild still apparently own the trademarks to that logo, etc.), or the Apollos (stick with the space theme, and remember the minor league club of the same name that played in the Sam Houston Coliseum).

Ideally…we’ll wear the colors of Gordie Howe and the original Aeros, regardless of the team name.

This is a start.

I just won a $100 bet.

I bet that Law started this thread and I was right.

Easiest money I ever won.

Excellent point. They can’t be called the Oilers but the drillers is a great idea with a similar logo as the Houston Oilers.
Question:
Does anybody know if the Houston Oilers colors and logo trademark only applies to football or all sports?

This is the way.

The Wild do still own the name and their AHL team ( they are the team that was the Aeros) had a throwback weekend recently where they wore the 90s-2010’s Aeros jerseys.

But they branded themselves as the “Iowa Aeros,” which, weird.

What is an Apollo?

Because crop dusting is huge in Iowa.
