Southwest Roofing is very good and very fair. They replaced all our siding and windows 10 years ago and we haven’t had an issue.
They have been around a long time.
What brand/type of siding did you go with?
We got Hardi-Plank. Lasts forever.
But door frames and window sills are wood and they don’t last forever.

We replaced all of our windows about ten years ago with Renewal By Andersen and our patio doors this year same company. They are top notch, if not the best, however very expensive. Their products are not wood or vinyl, special composite material. I believe their products are possibly patented. Whatever you choose do not go with vinyl as they will fade and fail. Also, Renwal By Andersen are double pane with Argon in between the panes. Very energy efficient.

Expensive, but high quality.
If it’s siding. Only get hardi. Mexican hardi is fine also. It’s same type except white and it’s cheaper. Not by alot but it add up. I think anything between 5 and 7 including material is fine.
Hardi is the way to go. It doesn’t expand or contract so paint lasts longer.
I bought vinyl double pane with argon. Been almost 10 years and no problems yet.
One issue with new windows, your house becomes much more air tight so mildew can appear at vents. Have considered adding a dehumidifier to the central air. Understand it’s common in older houses. Mine is 50+
Yeah the older houses have to breath so when you insulate or get them airtight the air from inside can’t escape and causes that. That’s the simple Fix in order to not mess with the AC.
But the newer houses that are built today especially in heights with the spray foam that happens also for the same reason. In the end regular r13-20 on walls is fine and blown in attic is fine also.
Window World gave me a great price (beat three other bids) to do my whole house with new vinyl/double pane windows. Installers did a great job. Looks good and really helped my noise and efficiency of my 1990 build home (aluminum/single pane).
