Same thing happened in Napa. Wildfire smoke ruined the vintage and it looks like the same thing is happening in Bordeaux.
Interesting that the smoke would have that effect…
I could see something in the soil affecting the flavor but wouldn’t think smoke would…
It gets onto the skin of the grapes. The Napa vintage was horrible

Depending on how bad the wildfires are, there might not be many vintages for a while. It takes several years of growing before new vines are ready. I forget if it is 3 or 7.
Not talking about losing vines. Smoke damage to the ripening grapes.
Yes, I understood. Just was thinking about the future depending on how many vines are left once this is all done.
Not just regrowing, but if old vines are destroyed. Top wine vines can be 50-70 years old or older. That is not easy to replace.
