SMU in ACC

they are going to need to spend $100 million+ / year not including upgrades. Their donners are going to have to come up with that money.

Right, if that is what they want to do. They are only missing out on $7M a year though is the point. That is all it cost them to switch conferences. Anything above tv money was on the donors anyway, just like us. Except we will get $30M to make up for lack of donations from UH fans.

I guess you don’t have to be in the new conference to recruit like it

Dana & his staff are Sumlin at Arizona or Georgia Tech triple option levels of recruiting. He’ll just make more excuses that he needs 4 more recruiting cycles to compete.

Good academics and money they will have an easy time recruiting. They can suck as much as they want it won’t matter. They’ll get good players.

We will be behind for a while if things continue to go the way they are unfortunately

To add they have a staff that can recruit. Recruiting has to be a priority from the top down.

But it was stupid for SMU to go to the ACC

I agree. Many here refuse to see how the game is being played.

SMU came ready and aligned to not only be opportunistic but to succeed!

Pure Brilliance!

I have a strong feeling Stanford to the ACC is going to wake them up Big Time also.

Guess they don’t need 3-5 years to build depth
lol

Much as I cannot stand them ( setting my bias aside) this new environment of NIL suits them perfectly, there going to hit it out of the park in recruiting. Recruits have one thing on there mind at least most do getting paid and to the next level of possible. SMU can do both.

Yawn.

I ain’t skeeeered of SMU.

Not sure why some people here are.

This coming from a Ft Worth newspaper

I’m with TCU on this one.

Don’t care.

Not sure why some people do.

We’ll see if the ACC holds together and it’s blue bloods remain.

The odds are against it
.and when they depart

the ACC will be PAC 2.0
.with SMU left behind.

This what I think SMU is thinking. We got in now we build our program for next realignment no one going to ignore us, we’ll be getting national attention, et al the Eric Dickerson / Craig James glory days). Therefore an invite from what remaining power conferences there are at the time. They maybe right
time will only tell.
