Great move by SMU. They’ll get more from other sources than they would’ve made in the AAC and gives them more academic gravitas as well.

Bold move and risky. We’ll see what happens.

Prostituting themselves just end up back in the American once Clemson, Florida State, NC save up enough money to afford the acc buyout

Not risky in SMU’s part. Still get NCAA hoops credits, bowl sharing, etc but $31M less than UH in media funds. The alternative is the AAC. The continued deficit funding and $100M endzone complex has paid off for the Ponies.

It’s risky because FSU, Clemson, and UNC will leave as soon as they can, the ACC will disintegrate, and then the Ponies will be homeless.

Those three are happier now and more committed than they were a few months ago. When the ACC breaks up, SMU has more chance to stay with a ACC remnant group. Great fun in the meantime.

You wouldn’t have made this move if UH was left out of the Big 12?

Had we been left out, then we’d probably be just as desperate.

Tillman would have to cut checks for nine years.

I believe the additions make the Tobacco Road conference stronger. Where is FSU and NC going?

Wow SMU is absolutely stupid. And the ACC all but confirmed it’s going to die in the end from everyone leaving.

Atleast they get Duke or Clemson once every 2 years

SEC as soon as they figure out a way.

So what is the new ACC worth when FSU, Clemson, and North Carolina leave? Is it able to keep up with the big 12?

Great academic peers for SMU. Is Louisville the lowest ranked academic school in the ACC?

The two PAC schools wouldn’t have gotten in if not for SMU’s pact. They should pay SMU a bit of their share
