SMU

Still think it was a bad move negotiate a deal into the ACC?

Even with that, they are still making MORE than had they stayed in the AAC and by the time the are fully vested…they may have multiple playoff appearances.

As i mentioned…their strategy was pure brilliance!

SMU is one of the only schools who could do that plus the ACC panicking.

It was a brilliant move by SMU. But let’s keep it real. The best move SMU made was hiring Lashlee.

They got Lashlee, a young up and coming coordinator who can recruit, and we got a 62 year old man.

That is why we are where we are and they are where they are. Simple as that.

Okay Eastcoast lol. Don’t forget about NIL please.

They get the ball to their playmakers and they make plays.

If we can keep our better defensive players and add through the portal our d will be salty next year.

Will need to pay for some offensive talent and we will be right where they are.

The big 12 is winnable.

I think it’s probably safe to say that SMU has surpassed us as a football program

Really? smu has deep pockets, deep NIL pockets. We do not, hence the difference for now.
What smu did that was brilliant was to be associated with blue bloods like Clemson and fsu. The BIG12 does not have these two right now. The BIG12 needs to attract both Clemson and fsu. The BIG12 survival into being a power conference might (I am writing might) depend on it.

I guess it’s sorta cool to buy yourself a seat at the cool kids lunch table instead of deservingly getting invited.

But in the end, that’s also why the two coolest kids at that lunch table (FSU and Clemson) both got up and walked off in an attempt to move to an even cooler kids table. They didn’t want to be forced to sit next to an uncool dorky kid like SMU.

Personally, I’d have invited Bama to the playoffs over SMU. I suspect that they’d give Penn State a better matchup.

In the end, the ACC couldn’t get either a bid to the last playoffs, or a bye in this one, cementing their status as the weakest and least respected P4 conference; even the G6 got a bye over them.

As for SMU, kudos. You’re in the playoffs and will make less than other power conference teams for your efforts.

I guess that’s a win….sort of.

Things can change quickly.

I know it has been said, but in the era of NIL, there will be no stopping SMU.

Get used to this. They have more money than anybody else.

SMU didn’t get the death penalty because they were cheating. Hell everyone was cheating including us. They were cheating at a level that UT couldn’t compete with so Texas used its media and NCAA influence to destroy SMU.

We are going to see what SMU would have become had they not gotten the death penalty.

Why the angst against the acc Ryon?
Since the bcs era you have three dominating conferences in the following order:
sec
acc with three NC
big10 with two NC
BIG12 with one NC
What comes before three? Two. What is higher than two? Three. Until then the big10 can pound sand.

See the last two playoffs.

FSU denied a bid in favor a non-champ SEC team and a Big 12 team in the last one.

Clemson denied a bye in favor of a Big 12 team and a G6 team in this one.

Top two brands suing to leave.

Case closed.

It’s a good thing for SMU that the short term trends of the present always continue in linear fashion in perpetuity…

Come on, they were on an upswing anyway they have a good coach, and the ACC was ripe for picking this year… and they still didn’t win the game! FSU sucks, Clemson has 3 losses, Miami was a cheap suit. SMU is playing like us in 2015, or UCF in 2017. They just had more fortunate timing this year.

The acc will get back to you when you come up to their championships level.
It’s hilarious when us the BIG12 were relegated to a 12 seed and smu getting a bye?

The last two seasons are the proof.

Anything before that is ancient history in the college football world.

There’s a REASON their current champion is literally SUING to escape that schitthole.

Does the acc have two teams or not?
Does the BIG12 have one team or not?

I will write it again and again. Mr. Yormark goal is to get both Clemson and fsu to the BIG12. If he does not we are on path to both the BIG12 and acc to be left behind.

Please STOP with the ACC is a going to crumble talk.

The ACC isn’t crumbling…we just went through ANOTHER full season with zero talk of an imminent collapse of the ACC

And to be honest SMU getting rejected by the Big 12 and landing a spot on the ACC turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise.

I would 100% rather Houston be in the ACC than the Big 12…bigger brands…more national exposure!

Big 12 “barely” got one bid in this year and was one Army win away from zero

ACC landed two bids this year.

ACC>BIg 12

The Big 12 champ and a G5 champ both got byes over the ACC champ.

Speaks VOLUMES.

CASE CLOSED.

Don’t bet on the ACC’s long-term survival.

There’s a reason FSU and Clemson are suing. It’s because even when the win the ACC (which they did)…they can’t even get enough respect to get a bye over a G5 (see this year), or get a bid over a conference runner up (see last year); and then get to make less money for their efforts than UCF.

FSU is suing to get more money for themselves and the ACC.

They are literally using a play out of UT’s playbook as UT held ESPN hostage for decades, in regards to their investment in the Big 12.

The ACC is NOT breaking up and NO…schools are NOT begging for a spot into the Big 12.

If anything they will poach the Big 12 and stay ahead of them IF 2-4 do leave.
