I like this. I think we should broaden this to all UofH centered content. Our online foot presence is tragic. Unless we are fighting with faceless twitter accounts it looks like we don’t have fans. We should like, follow and engage more in the UofH/Big 12 content sphere. I think that’s partial as why we get harsh new coverage. Media heads don’t feel they need to pander to us because it’s not profitable.

It goes both ways the content the university puts out has to grow as well. Other Big 12 schools post 7-10 videos a week centered on football. We get one press conference and a past week recap nothing to push hype to the current weeks game everything is in the past. This is something I’ve emailed the AD on but crickets so far…

It’s similar to the merchandise story we used to get, where the claim was that there weren’t many choices because there wasn’t enough demand. Then when some quality choices were finally licensed and offered, actual sales took off.

Sitting behind the computer and demanding “engagement” without putting in the work to earn it will get the appropriate results.

TikTok:
Key Aspects of University TikTok Policies
• State and System-Wide Bans: Numerous public university systems (such as the University System of Georgia, the University of Texas system, and systems in states like Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Maryland, Montana, Oklahoma, and South Dakota) have restricted or banned TikTok following state government directives.
• University-Owned Devices: TikTok is almost universally prohibited on university-owned phones, laptops, tablets, and desktops. This restriction applies strictly to faculty, staff, and student workers using institutional hardware.
• Campus Wi-Fi Networks: Many institutions have blocked access to TikTok on campus wired and Wi-Fi networks (for example, at UT Austin and other public schools)

The more push back on this they get from us the better. You would hope.

I suggest Eddie get a comprehensive audit of what we are doing on social media unless data shows it is a waste of time. I don’t see that being the case, but I’m open to hearing from someone who knows a lot more than I do on the subject.

If we are missing easy opportunities to create buzz, we need to turn this around today.

In my personal social media experience, content is your biggest concern. Frequently and reliably delivered content is king. We don’t do this. We don’t deliver buzz-creating content for the most part. We deliver “the news” of what went on with a light sprinkling of “what you missed” - the what you missed part is good but our content for buzz creation is weak, very weak.
The good:
Exciting plays that happened in the game you probably missed.
Cool stuff like Bun B in a Houston blue slab
The bad:
Very limited promotion of upcoming games - infrequent posts regarding this.

Yeah, this isn’t a once or twice a week thing.
