Gonzaga is a national brand and they have been recruiting nationally for a while now, including getting some players from Texas. Monson built them up initially then Few took it to another level. Big 12 should definitely research if they would help the conference.

I laugh when people say so and so will suck after their coach retires. They’ve been to every tournament since 1999. You don’t think they’d have hotshot coaches lining up to cash checks from them?

Maybe, it’s not exactly Kansas or Kentucky. They’d be arguably the worst job in the Big 12.

Gonzaga is about brand. Their gear sells everywhere. Coaching there would be a legacy move for any hotshot with a desire to coach under a sea of banners.

does it bring in more money or does it dilute the revenue share per team
if it’s the latter then there is no need to bring anyone else in

I don’t think they’ll suck but it’s pretty unlikely they’ll find someone within the next hire or two that’s able to replicate Fews success. The track record of programs replacing a HOF coach with another HOF coach simply isn’t that great.

Agreed. I’d rather look at a school in a big market that can contribute $$$ to the conference regardless of wins.

Gonzaga is not only a one trick pony, they are also geographically undesirable.

Let them join the American or PAC12. The B12 doesn’t need them.

Gonzaga is a small catholic school. There is a conference of small Catholic schools called the Big East.

They fit there, so does St Mary’s.

I hope the Presidents/ADs like the idea but start with just scheduling them next season.
A few Gonzaga v B12 neutral site games would be an event. In NYC v UH would fit.

No membership till new TV deal starts.
Enough $$$ left over from the B12s full share to pay Gonzaga ?

With BYU and 'Zaga out the door, St Marys should win 30 games a year going forward.
Stay where they are. Some great campus locations on this list.
